going to disassemble d-series vtec head. what should I do
I am going to start taking the head apart. I am going to label everything. But do i need to get so in depth to keep exhaust val 1 and 2 for cylinder 1 marked? Or can i just disassemble everything dealing with cylinder 1 into one zip lock bag... and just write down which is the exhaust and intake val?

You dont need to mark which is exhaust and intake because theres a size difference that tells them appart. For labling valve one and two depends on what your going to do. If your going to lap each valve seat then do so with each valve you put in that location. If your getting a valve job then i suggest cleaning the valves good or use new ones. If your taking it appart for new springs with no head work (valve job) then i say put them back where they came because of the way they hit the seat you may loose power from the grooves the valve made to the seat. Thats alot to take in and probably didnt make sense, sorry.
Also for D series heads theres springs that hold the rocker assembly together, dont loose or misplace those.

well i took the head part, but the valves, springs, and retainer are still in the head. i pretty much kept everything intact, like the valve assembly. Other than that everything has been ziplocked in bags and labeled to what goes where. I till work on the valves in the morning... I am going to re-use the the valves, so i need to bag them and label them since they are going back in... after getting the head hot tanked, and maybe blasted.... but i heard bad things about getting a head sand blasted...

it can't hurt to label every valve to put them back exactly where they came from. what exactly are you doing to the head (your objective)?

yeah it may be a little extra work, but I like to put everything right back where I got it.

Re: (DragII)
friend is going to do the p&p job. then it's getting skunk vtec stage 3 turbo cam, cam gear, val springs and retainers... so the head will be fully built... then it's time for a block build up...
also i stored everything in a box, i didn't have some wd40 to spray everything down with. So i just used some silicon spray and hosed everything down before i get it hot tanked.... the head and val train has so much varnish build up on it.
