If the block is a reasonable cost then go for it. Depending on your header you will need a new one to clear the taller GSR block along with a timing belt, water pump, ect. I'm sure you would see some power and TQ but depends on the the cost and trouble if it's really worth it.

i think the 1.8 torque is way worth it...
but i agree, just get the block, slap on the 1.6 head and pistons...

I've had both, and yes, I think it's worth it. If you're going to throw in the 1.8 block and leaving it N/A, I highly suggest changing the pistons for B16 or ITR slugs. It'll be worth it

Re: going from b16a to b18c1, worth it? (rodrez)
actually im going to trade my turbo kit for it. its a complete short block, so all i have to do is take the b16a motor, leave the tranny and just drop the gsr motor in my hatch. im already running a p72 ecu. i've gone N/A then turbo b16a and now going back to N/A. anyone else?

Short block is motor without the head. Long block includes the head and sometimes the mainfolds. If it's the whole motor, I would say yea go for it.

Definately do the poor man's typeR. Doing it in my coupe dropped almost a whole second off my e.t. from a regular b16. As far as every day driving the difference is night and day. Just use the block from the gsr. Keep the b16 head, tranny, and pistons.

I'd leave the GS-R head on it if the B18C1 comes with a head.
It has smaller combustion chambers, which increases CR if you use the B16A pistons or any other higher-than-P72 dome pistons.
A B16A head on a stock B18C1 block would lick donkeyt nuts because the CR would drop below the stock rating of 10:1 because the B16A has bigger combustion chambers.
I can't believe nobody else pointed that out?
...and for you "B16A head flows better" guys, I'm not totally sold on this. Perhaps after both heads are completely worked, but stock vs. stock the P72 head flows great. Add a Skunk2 manifold and a P28 or Hondata (if you keep that B16A tranny ) and you will love the hell out of it.
Stock vs. stock the B16A just doesn't pull as strong at any given rpm range, gear, etc. I've owned a B18C1 in a 1992 Si hatch at the same time as my fiancee' had a B16A2 in her 1992 Si hatch and the B18C1 would beat the B16A@ EVERY time with no problems.
