Default girlfriend needs an answer asap...

She wants a prelude, manual trans, H22A engine should she get a SI or a SH? Any other info would help.

Straight line? non-SH. Lighter = faster.

Cornering? SH for sure. The ATTS is so bad-*** when cornering. My girl's Dad has a 2000 SH and it handles awesome for being totally stock.

Overall?

SH.

Body-matched under plastics, nicer looking wheels, ATTS, and a spoiler all stock.

I agree with the above opinion completely.

Well, the ATTS flat *sucks* for autox. Mid corner the car can't make up it's mind what it wants to do and it's slow to respond. It doesn't work like a true LSD as it only grips on long sweepers, and then it just transfers power to the other wheel.

Plus, the SH is about 100lbs heavier than the base model. Not good considering that lude is a porky car anyways.

Take that for what it's worth, but my vote is the base. Then, you can throw a quaife in it and go rock the SH at the strip and track.

the SH is a worthless heavy bitch. Just get the Vtec its lighter. The damn SH will fight against you if turn one direction then sharply the opposite direction. I mean sure its cool and all... but its toooo heavy and you could get the same effect with a front strut tower brace and a rear upper and lower strut brace. My friends prelude will out handle any SH and its lighter and faster.....(Just my opinions)

Good God guys is the SH really that much heavier than the normal Prelude?

I think not.

...And anyways, we're talking about a PRELUDE here, so why is weight even really being discussed?

It's for his girl - how often do you think she'll be at the auto-X or drag racing the guy at the next redlight?

I've had some extended drives on twisty backroads and the SH is fun as hell to drive.

This is coming from someone who has a hatch with ITR swap with LSD, good suspension set-up, etc. so I'm used to a good-handling car. The SH is fun as hell to drive.

...Then again, how often will your girl be pushing the limits of the SH?

Few people who buy it ever really use the SH ATTS system anyways.

Get the SH because of the color-matched trims, better wheels, and the spoiler.

i agree with B18C5 all the way. even if shes not gonna utilize ATTS, painted trim, better wheels and spoiler are nice. unless shes gonna get a kit on it or something....then i dont think itd really matter.

fyi 5th gen preludes are either sh or base.

i'd go with the sh in pearl white with an oem kit, jdm fogs, dumped on teins, and of course, mugen mz3x.

If she was going to race it, I dont think she would be gettin a prelude because they are too heavy, so she's not really going to notice the added weight of the ATTS.
another thing about the ATTS that I have heard is that once you reach a certain speed, I think around 100, the cars suspension automatically drops an inch or so. Not sure if it is true or not.
