my buddy's girl just picked up a 95 eg hatch (cx) model though, she loves it and gas in are area is $2.05 so she likes the gas milage,

But, its kinda slow like 70hp, i am more B-series kinda guy,but i was curious what she could do to her cx motor to get maybe like 95 or 100 hp?

92-95 DX intake manifold and tb? would it make a difforence

92-95 si intake manfold and tb??

can u do a mini-me vtec swap on to a cx block?

or would can u put any 16 valve head on there?

Most of the CX's only had valve reliefs for 8 valves and swapping manifolds would mave little to no effect on that head. You can find a complete DX or D16Z6 swap for $500 or less and would be the best bang for the buck you could do.

You could make a CX just as fast or faster than a DX if you get a hold of a 1992-2000 Civic EX (D16Z6 or D16Y8) transmission. The gears will be much shorter and the car will accelerate quicker. However, your gas mileage will drop down to the low 30's, so its a lose/lose situation.

I wouldn't worry about doing mods to the motor, unless you do wanna try a mini-me. Then again though, as said earlier, most CX's only have pistons suited for 2 valves and not 4. If you are gonna go through the hassle of a mini-me AND an EX transmission, you might as well just order a whole new engine (e.g. D16Z6 or JDM D15B). But, if you are looking for a small mod that will give the car a lot more pep, EX transmission

Good grief! And I thought the $1.66 I pay here in the south was alot. These gas prices are getting out of hand.

You could try a VX or HX motor. VX = 92hp 51/44mpg HX = 115hp 45/39mpg

Turbo it. Low boost on stock internals, you'll be making quite a bit of power, not as much as the big boys, but more than that car can handle. Not only that, but the turbo at low boost will INCREASE gas mileage even more.

That sucks! Gas is only $1.70 here for premium! Any who. I think a newer D-series motor might be the way to go!

put in a d16z6 sohc vtec motor.

even though the gas mileage would go down a little bit compared to the cx motor its not gonna go down that much and plus there are a **** load of performance parts for that motor too

CX pistons have 4 valve eyebrows. I have 4 of them to prove it.

but if you want to make your CX faster.....use a EX tranny.

I would turbo it, but CX cant handle much boost. Tranny is best bet, or jdm D15B but you might have to worry about emmisions and BAR

I doubt the intake manifold has anything to do with the piston. lol

My friend got a cx with a jdm d15b (suposably with ZEX cam) and chipped ECU in there, that thing pulls like crazy for that little 1.5L. If I would throw a better clutch on that thing I would pull off 15.5 runs. I would personaly get d15b because it will prolly have less miles on in then USDM motor that you will get.

my friend just swapped a d16z6 in his cx the total cost was like $600-700 but that's including clutchmasters clutch. I don't know if it will be able to take a 2000 SI because we still didn't fix the 02 sensor problem that we are getting but I think once it's done I think it would be a drivers race, because the guy with a d15b ripped an auto RSX (he N dropped it too) a new ******* and took him by like 2 cars by the 4th gear.

If she just want a little more HP so the car doesn't feel like she could get out and run faster then it without spending a hole lot go with the D16z6
Good building block
But if she plans on making this a project car then I suggest to go with the B18b. It is a good motor for turbo. I have B18b in an 96 Ek with full exhaust, intake, and header. I still get about 300 miles on an 11 gallon tank of gas.

What part of "most" don't you understand. Some had pistons with reliefs for 4 valves, some had two. See here:

He was saying that since the head was so shitty changing the intake manifold would be pointless.

With that CX tranny any engine modification is worthless. Tranny needs to go first then mods.
