ok like needs to be done to get rid of my power steering in my 95 civic ex, like does the whole rack needs to be changed to a manual one of what? i've searched and haven't really found any write up's on this to do it the right way, please help!! thanks in advance

Don't take this as a suggestion, but I just drained the fluid, took out the pump and hoses, and plugged the holes from the rack. I've had it this way for probably at least 3 years without any problems. I am sure someone is going to say it is bad, but like I said, mine's done just fine.

It's a looping kit so you can keep all your parts without having to swap out your rack. PM Padawan for more information.

well, i would go with a big *** bolt. but i'm guessing. or use the hoses from a junk yard, and cut the hose and just hose clamp a bolt into the open end... since you just want to keep dirt and **** out of the rack, it would work in my opinion.

Honestly, I can't remember I think I used nipples like you would on an intake mani vacuum port, but don't quote me on that.

yes that will work but read the rest of the thread u got that pic from because it tells u that ur going to need a breather and it tells u how to do it.

Yes, to do it properly you need to change the rack.

you do not need to change the rack, just do that with some fluid in it it will be fine and damn near the same as a manual rack... as what i did runnin 3 years strong

I pm'd Padawan for you a while ago (after my first post). He told me that he hadn't tried my way, nor has he heard of anyone else doing it, but the fact that I've run without it for this long he said it seems fine.

the down fall to having an "open rack" is if in the case that water or condensation gets in it, it could rust and or break

That's why you loop it. So it remains a closed system.

Water in any part of out engine/steering/cooling/brake lines is a bad idea.

I looped mine for a while, but it was a lot easier to steer after I built a breather for it. As far as I know, the ratio for manual Civic racks isn't very good.

do what shane did but just pump the rack with a good grease and then plug the holes... prolobf life even more

Do you guys have the link to the writeup where that pic came from? On a dsm I would usually just loop it like in the picture, Im curious to see the breather option

that's what I was thinking, just put a hole bunch of power steering fluid in it then just use a hose to loop it like in the pic, so do you guys think its a good idea?

ok does anyone know if just sticking bolts in the holes to plug it where the lines would normally go would work?

well I did this and it worked like a charm, so far i've been driving the car like this and no problems, just made sure I had alot of fluid in the rack then plugged the holes, it really didn't even make to much of a difference in the steering, doesn't feel that hard, thanks for the help guys
