Getting off to a good start in first

Getting off to a good start in first
I'm new to stick, and I can't always seem to get a good start off the line. Should I be applying more gas, less gas, more clutch, etc?
At times I'll get it perfectly where I get full power out of the car... but then I can't recreate that.

Re: Getting off to a good start in first (OR-G)
The best launch method I can tell you is this.....
1. Get ready for the green light
2. Rev to about 3500 rpm
3. let the clutch out a little faster than you would fer a very smooth shift, it will be slightly jerky, but hey, this is for racing!!
4.when the clutch is all the way out, floor it
Word of warning tho, if there is an excessive amout of gravel, or the road is wet, you can very easily spin the tires, and if a cop sees this, you might get a ticket for exhibition of speed, or wreckless driving
Hope that Helps!!

i just started drive a 5 speed a week ago.. so i'm in the same boat as you... to get it smooth i have found that if you rev to 2000, let clutch out about half way, rmp's will start to drop, apply more gas and slowly let the clutch out all the way... i'm not sure how correct that is.. but it works....
