Default Getting my windows tinted tommorrow on my EBP SI, need opinions....

Got an appointment tommorrow to get my windows tinted. Been debating on what tint to go with for a while now and think I am going with the 35% which is barely legal here. Technically it is illegal but only because it reads about 31% with factory glass when the measure it. I personally like the look of the car without tint but hate driving without it. I like the feeling of being blocked into my car and I hate other peoples headlights at night. Considered just going 50% but think I will kick myself because it is not dark enough. What are your opinions on mirror tint? Post any pics of EBP SI's with tint if you got them and the darkness of tint if you know. Thanks in advance.

My opinion,

Mirror tint is awful.

I got mine at the darkest legal limit. Metallic tint only, make sure you get a lifetime warranty. If you pay twice as much as those places that offer "$120 tint jobs", it will be worth it. You get what you pay for.

No mirror tint, please. Just get it dark.

I agree, go with the legal limit because if you get it too dark and the cops tell you to take it off, you'll wish you did it right the first time. If you go with metallic tint it will be reflective enough if that's what you're looking for. And like he said, make sure it has a lifetime warrenty from a reputable shop. I paid $275 for my tint job, it's not too dark, it's reflective and it's legal. The shop I took it to tinted ALL the windows at the World Of Coca-Cola here in Georgia, so the lifetime warrenty they have will be valid for years to come.

You can't even see through my windows at all during the night.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's 37%

Slight mirror tint looks HOT on EBP SI's.

Especially with the factory rims....tint matches the wheels...and it's hot.

now, if you get it so heavy that it's literally like a mirror, then it starts getting tacky.

SLIGHT mirror!

I have black limo tint, 70% on the sides (Pennsylvania legal limit) and I think 50% on the rear. It looks light in certain situations, but most of the time it's just dark enough to look good. Can't see inside at night. I'm very satisfied. Don't be afraid to spend some money - you get what you pay for. Cheap tint will fade and turn purple within a few years.

150 to tint all the sides and the back. life time warrenty. 20% tint all around. DArk in the day, so people can't all stare at me, and DARK in the night..no one can look in. sorry for the bad picture. p.s. Never been hassled by cops..and I've had it for almost a year. its all good.

I have 20% black tint on my car, and I love it. It's just dark enough for privacy but most cops won't know whether to pull you over or not. I Love it though.

Well, got them done. It meters out at about 22% so it is very illegal in Oregon. I need to find an eye doctor to write me a thing saying my eyes are light sensitve. Water spots showed up real bad after the tint so I got this stuff from work that removes them. Took a couple pics to show the difference. On the pic of the back window I just wiped some on, let it sit for 30 seconds, and wiped it off so you could see how good it worked.

Looks nice, how much you pay to get it installed. Hopefully they won't tell you to remove it.

Looks nice.

Kinda OT but, what did you use to take off the water spots? Front yard sprinklers have owned my friend's car. The water spots on her passenger side seemed "etched" in due to time and neglect. (Poor car )

Depends on the color of the car and the type of tint that is on it. My car looks 10x better with tint than it did without, but most dark cars look better with tint.

I actually liked the look of my car without tint but hate not having it. I don't care for other peoples headlights and would just rather no one see in anyways. Besides, I'm a windows down type of guy. Window is always down no matter what. To me the tint was more for function than appearance.

The stuff I used is "for glazing professionals only" according to the label. I work at a glass shop as an installer so I just snagged some from work. Trying to get a price of a gallon of it just to have for myself. It appears to be a mixture of hydrochloric and hydroflouric acid. All I know is next time I use it I will definatly wear gloves. My finger tips have been burning all day.

You payed 275 for some window tint. Oh yea, thats some money. Around here its like 110-120 (civic hb) for a lifetime warranty and its the best shop in town.

I had 20% on my car and I was hassled about it once by the cops. I think it was because the car was black too. I went tint-free because I think it looks better but then again I do like it with tint. You can't have both. Tint does look alot better on dark cars then on light ones (as someone mentioned). I'm probalby going to get tint again and probalby around 20% again, I liked it.

People can't seen in well and people can't see out well so sometimes is sucks and sometimes its definitely a good thing.

Live a summer in TX, not to mention the 10 to 1 SUV to Truck ratio here .... both of which blind you with their lights at night when they are behind you.

Most places offer a lifetime warrenty, but what good is a lifetime warrenty if it's a single shop. What if they go out of business? I got my windows tinted by a place that has nationwide locations, so if I move, I can still have my windows taken care of. They also used one peice per window and it's seamless.

I'd much rather pay at lot more if it's worth ti, in this case it was. For instance, if I do move and the legality of the tint in the state that I'm in changes, they remove it for me.
