Getting the most out of my Automatic Transmission Civic...
I know that manual transmission is the best, but since at the time I was shopping for a whip a few years back, I ain't know how to drive stick. Now I do, but can't afford another car. Keep in mind that I am a poor man and don't have much to shell out at one time, so fellow honda-techies, what can I do to make my '98 honda civic drive as smooth, efficient and fast as possible? also note that I am fairly new to tinkering with hondas, but I'm starting to like doin **** to my car, so I'd really like to do whatever possible to make the engine run good, thanking y'all in advance for any tips, peace

My GF has a 98 Ex auto, not the most fun thing to drive but it's okay. Obviously, you can just do the basic bolt-ons as prevriously stated. You can also save for either a swap to a more powerful engine in Auto form or with Manual, or you can go FI. I plan on just installing probably a Edelbrock turbo on my gf's car. She doesn't need a particularly fast car, just fast enough to dust the "Ricers" in her town. It all really depends on what type of car you plan on building. The search function will show you lots of post's on modding your car but they eventually lead to different paths. If you want to get really crazy with the auto, go FI then upgrade the tranny with parts from like http://www.Levelten.com (I think that's the site) get a LSD, different Torque Converter, change the gear ratio's in your tranny ( I heard that's possible) Blah blah blah and so on. The possibilities are endless, it just depends on where you wanna stop. Good luck.

Re: Getting the most out of my Automatic Transmission Civic... (Knightmare69)
well, I'm not very experienced when it comes to cars and working on them, but I'd like to be. I've been toying around with my whip over the summer and I enjoy it, my whip's been good to me ever since I got it, so i kind of want to give it the best treatment possible and make it better, whether it's on the exterior or the engine. If you know of alternate ways to make my auto trans civic run as good as a stick shift civic or almost as good, I'm all ears, my main thing is to take care of my engine and get it running the best it possibly can, feel me? thanks for the tips
