Default buying Civic Hatch, is it worth it?

I just totalled my 90 Legend and im lookin for a new car.. Right now its lookin like Integra or Civic hatch....

The only hatches i can find arent vtec and have the 1.5l engine.. If i did a bunch of weight reduction would this engine be quick at all?? Intake and exhaust are going to happen immedietly as i get the car, but is it worth it to mess with that engine?

get something with a swap already done (LEGITLY - papers and all)

or

buy a integra or hatch for cheap then swap a motor yourself, intake and exhaust will not make your single cam fast

yeah i wouldnt pay that much either BUT where i live the market value of eg hatches is through the roof... i see bone stock ones with 150,xxx plus miles going for 3 grand plus and people are buying them up... basically it just comes down to what you want and how much you want to spend to get what you want

I know, I am new here (lurking forever) with no posts under my belt, but let me tell you what I would do.

Wait around for a good one, don't just settle on a certain car just for the sake of having a hatch.

Trust me, in my market (Maryland *shudder*) it is ridiculous for Hondas or any import car for that matter; everyone wants them and sellers can get away with robbery for them.

I just picked up (on Monday) a 93 Si hatch, original owner, 108k miles, full dealer maintenance for everything, inspected (dont knwo if that is an issue in TX, wasn't when I lived in OK) for 2800 bucks.

The paint on the roof and hood is done for, and there is some surface rust on a few scrathes on the pass door, but trust me dude, it is well worth the wait for an un-modified car where you know nobody has messed up any work and you don't have to re-do anything (sounds like you're looking at one that has been thoroughly riced out).

I'm not telling you not to buy it, it could be a great car, but if you don't want to do a swap, I'd wait around for a good Si or EX if you can stand a coupe. You'll find one, even if it means waiting around for a few months like I did.

Good luck!

Thats not a deal unless it already has a swap. If thats the price with the stock engine your getting ripped off. I bought my Clean Title 94 civic hatch for 1800 running and nothing wrong with it at all.

Yea That car sounds like it has seen better days. I would hold off until something better comes along. And it will

i hope that you know even if you put just I/H/E and add just like 10-20HP on the small dispalcement blocks that like almost a 20-30% or something like that thats crazy, well not really but even if you dont get a swap it'll still be "fast".. but it could go a lot faster easly...

If you don't care about it being slavaged title, I see plenty rolling shells for a grand integra dc2s and egs. Just buy the shell swap an LS motor for another grand with motor and parts and then drop a tubo in . You'll have a pretty fast street car for that same 3800 price range
