Getting a 72 Mini!!
oK, so me and my friend( RYU12341), were up in Bellingham looking for a house for the school year, when we came upon a mini for sale in this dude's driveway for 2200!! No one was home, so we looked at it and came back after he called. It's right hand drive from New Zealand, and he just got it all legal 4 months ago. Original wheels, all interior( needs some Honda buckets deffinately), and the engine runs good..it';s the 875CC-super small. Bruce's cousin is going up there from Lynnwood on Monday to buy it and we're gonna go NUTS on it!! The body's straight, needs paint, and it handles amazing!! I'm so stoked...I wish I had an extra 2 g's for it. My day will come, just letting everyone know, I thought this was a good deal..Oh, he's taking 2000 cash.

From what I hear, the B16 is close to the same weight as the engine that originaly came in the Mini. That should make for quite a fast little car.
Imagine that with a full Toda/Jun package and CTR pistons. *Yumm*

i've found my new project car! lol, dang that's baaad! i wonder how hard it is to swap in a b16. that looks like a very very tight fit. i've always loved the older mini's. where's a good place to shop for one?

Re: Getting a 72 Mini!! (hybrid hatchback)
Well just some points to the original poster.... the engine is a 850 cc. The easiest swap right out the box will be an Austin America 1275. While your at it you need to mod the brakes as well because the 850 brakes will not stop a 1275 .... trust me on this. To the other guy looking for one ...I have a resored 1960 with 1275 Show condition with White Leather GSR seats. Make an offer... ( over $12k invested)

Cool let me know!! The B16 is very doable. It requires extensive fabrication of the front subframe but it works. Also its tight in the regular round nose version but quite at home in the clubman version.

Actually its called Hydrolastic Suspension. It uses a bag at each corner with fluid that displaces from front to rear dependine on road conditions (cliff note explanation).
