umm I'd just go to stock shifter and get ES bushings.....change the fluid to GM syncromesh and see what it does then....
25 bucks for 2qts of GM syncromesh
14 bucks for the bushings
?? stock shifter
And a few hours work...

I'm guessing you have a 99-00 civic? This is a common problem. My car kinda grinded whenever i shifted from 1st to 2nd at redline or very close to redline. Now, along with a lot more "testing," i just shift a little bit earlier to prevent this instead of grinding gears.

It's not like replacing the shifter bushings, if that's what you're thinking about. You have to disassemble the whole tranny.

NO I was talking about the shifter bushings.......its really simple to replace them a few 12mm bolts and no touching the tranny.....the reason I say this is cuz if the bushing is wore out it makes shifting sloppy causing user error and slight grinds...np bro...
OT: what bushings does the tranny have internally??

I know that the shifter bushings are easy to replace, but this is not going to help Rhythm Racer's problem. The problem he is experiencing is very common in our trannies. I can't remember exactly what causes it, but there was a very informative post a long time ago that explained everything. I want to say that it had something do with a weak bearing, or maybe the synchros giving out, but i'll try and find that post.
I also have the gear grinding problem, but it only happens during a very high (redline) shift from 1st to 2nd gear. After that, everything's fine. I replaced my shifter bushings, and i still have this problem.
