Gauges in car? Are they appropriate?
Ok i was wondering if i should upgrade to having gauges in my car now? Are they really appropriate? What do they do? Are they like needed or no? tell me what u guys think or know

since you are asking this question im guessing you are all stock and want to look cool, am i right? they arent need unless you are turboed or want to look cool or you have a really built motor and want to know how its running

if you dont have any mods done to your motor par intake, header, exhaust and other basics then you dont need them at all.
If you run aftermarket fuel management, or FI of some kind then you should get some. They tell you relevent info about how the motor is running.

Gauges arent really necessary until you do serious engine modifications. Basic bolt ons don't change your engine performance enough to need gauges. It is really up to the owner and what you feel is necessary.

If your running a turbo you should have a boast, air/fuel ratio, oil pressure, thats about it. anything else is up to you.
Only you can say if its enough or not to be honest. If you want it then go for it!

Honestly just for you asking this question you have no clue why you need gauges so you have no reason to get them. Dont waste your money.

haha yeah that's true. but me and my friends was planing to try to swap a mini-me in. Since i read about it in HondaTuning Magazine and i saw it here i was like hey why not. and when i get that done. and i have all my basic bolt-ons listed below im gona supercharge. Since it goes better with Vtec then Turbo. I don't know. haha im like still going over it in my mind if i should get the gauges or not. but thx for all ur comments people.

I hate gauges, they are expensive and don't make your car any faster...
I have boost, oil pressure, and egt... they are the important ones IMO.

You're too close to stock to really justify it. If and when you supercharge, you will probably want to have a boost gauge at least. Read some old archives of threads here, its always good to learn a thing or two about turbocharging or supercharging if you plan to do either. Good luck with the project.

i say because you can get more power out of a supercharger than a turbo charger. But then again turbo charger gets more HP and power from exhuast. hhhmmm, now you got me thinking that i should go turbo now. haha. i like the sound of supercharger tho. more "beastly" LOL

I hate to break it to you buddy, but it's been proven time and time again that turbochargers make more power than superchargers at the same boost level...
There was a comparison on here a while ago between a basic Drag turbo kit and a Jackson Supercharger, at 7psi the turbo made 30% more power at the wheels than the supercharger...

super sounds fake
and yes a turbo does make more hp and puts less wear on the engine, the only downside is lag, but if you have a correct size turbo that isn't even a problem

i did research on a turbo and the jackson supercharger for my ex. now i drive a turboed ex. power rating was way higher on the turbo than the supercharger. and nothing sounds better than hearing a blow off valve and that turbo spooling.
