Default gasket leak again?

I have a 94 single cam eg hatch and when i bought like a month ago it had a bad leak. So when i took it to get vavle cover gasket replaced. the guy changed the ignition o ring, the whole vavle cover gasket and it was ok for about 2 days... and then i started seeing leak again. I had a friend of mines see it and he said that theirs anther seal on the right side by the power steering taht the mechanics probly didnt kno about?? Does anyone have a diagram of all the seals? So i can do this myself, cuz u can never trust a mechanic nowadays U_U.

Post clear pictures of the location where you think the oil is coming from.

mm i would but kinda dark right now... Ill try and get the pics tomoro. But the leak seems to be where the power steering cover and the vavle cover meet, if u follow that edge down onto the block ..... thats where i see some wet oil... so i think its coming from the valve cover gasket somewhere but im not 100% sure. kinda hard to explain without pics, i kno. If i can find a diagram with all the seals tho , ill kno for sure that he missed replacing a seal.

I agree. That sounds like a valve cover gasket leak. It's important to apply some HondaBond or red RTV silicone sealant on the four sharp angle corners of the valve cover.

where do u get honda bond? also i had a question about this grime on the valve cover gasket. Im no mechanic im just trying to learn as i go. But when i was there while he did the work and the valves and the inside of the valve cover has ALOT of grime, the oil on this single cam wasnt changed 2 often. But he said that u cant clean the inside of the valve cover becuz somthing about it cloging some thing. Idk it didnt make alot of sense to me. Being that alot of people take their vavle covers off and swap heads, and paint them and what not. I dont understand exactly how does the inside of the vavle cover need to be when put back on? cuz it was dirty and and sludgy. Sorry for the questions... Im just a little confused.

You can get HondaBond at the Honda dealer, though the less expensive red RTV sealant will work fine to seal a valve cover.

You can clean the valve cover with some engine degreaser; however, if your engine has sludge, the valve cover is the least of your worries.

So cleaning valve cover has no cons at alll? i ask this cuz if ima replace the gasket again i might as well paint the cover also. at least itll look clean lol. and the sludge in the engine is a problem? he told me the motor will clean it self out with more frequent oil changes .... true or false?

When you remove the valve cover to fix the leak, post clear pictures of the exposed head and inside of valve cover.

Tip: Per a post here a few years ago, Honda motorcycle dealers charge way less for Hondabond than Honda auto dealers. I confirmed this where I live. A tube at the motorcycle dealer was around half the price of the auto dealer's.

Wipe the inside of the valve cover. If the grime is residue-like, spray with Simple Green and follow the bottle's directions. You can get Simple Green at WalMart and probably places like Autozone, too. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly, and all should be fine.

I would change the oil two or three times in the next month if there is any sign of sludge.

If the oil drips at the bottom of the engine match with the oil leak at the top, then the valve cover gasket is the likely culprit.

Check your cam seal. It can leak and drip along that edge of the valve cover. Make sure you clean the upper part of the head with brake/parts cleaner. Clean off all old Honda Bond. Use a hond valve cover gasket. Dont use any afther market brand, they suck. Applly honda bond on the 4 courner where the rocker arms meet on the upper part of the head. It the hump where your cam seats under. Dont over torque your valve cover and tighten in a star like sequence.
RonJ@ht is correct your leak is not as important then your oil sludge. Your motor is practilly crap and it wont clean out itself. You need to take every part of your engine head apart and clean it piece by piece. OR you can backyard style and do a oil change and put 2.5 qts of oil and 1 qts of ATF (trans oil). Trans oil has a degreaser in it and it will clean the gunk out. Run your car for about 15 minutes. The last 5 minutes run your car @ 2000 rpm. Then do another oil change. Ive done it plenty of times and its works. The only con is your seal might swell and leak. Put seal are nothing compard to a jack up motor. You can run ATF motor for a short time like so without no damage.(Guy at work accidently done it to a customer car, he is no longer working here) but never put motor oil in a trans. Thats the end of your trans.

Sludge wears out your motor internals(valves, rocker arms, cam etc.) Pretty much your motor will fail. But lets look at it as a positive. It will give you a reason to do a motor swap.
