I like the b16. I just think that as an n/a platform it's terrible.

Theb16 has plenty of potential, but for anyone building an n/a project they're shooting themselves in the foot by having 1.6L

I don't bash the b16, I bash people who make small displacement n/a cars.

If there were a smiley with a serious stare I'd post it.

i wouldnt say terrible but it has its potential. it all depends what the goal of the car is. i seen several built n/a b16a's egs at my local track running hpde events dominating those with more power. for road racing its not that bad, as long as the rpms stay high. for drag racing, i would definetly go with another motor then the b16a.

^^

HPD's are way more about suspension, gearing, and driver than power.

I used to place in the middle rankings at PIR road racing events, and my car is bone stock.

b16's are pointless all around. If you are leaving it n/a then it has little power and no torque. If you are boosting it, you may solve the power/torque issue...but if that's the case, why not boost a b18c1 and get even better numbers?

as far as stock honda motors go... b18 > all

H22 is nice, but b-series has far better after-market support.

This is somewhat true, then you have to consider "How fast does my car really need to be?"

Most h22 guys run 13's out of the box. With good cams, i/e/h you can get mid-high 12's. That's all without forced induction. The h's have strong sleeves, the ringland problem is the only thing that really needs to be rectified for a solid boost setup.

Well, yeah...for n/a, H22 or b18c5 is best.

But with all this boost talk I am hearing, you really are better off with a b18c1

From what I know though about boosted h22's is that they're quite finiky to tune and not to mention they're a bit heavier than b series.

I really don't understand what it is with people who always talk about the H22 being so much heavier than a b18.

"Yeah but if you put an H twenty two in your civic it will be so much heavier and won't be a nice driving car anymore. And then you need to upgrade your suspension and still won't he as good on autocross."

It is only a few pounds more, big deal. Wear thinner socks and take off your shirt then if a few pounds is such a big deal.
