FYI: Honda Civic Del SOL SI CV axles
yesterday we replaced the right CV axle in my 1993 Del Sol SI... the most difficult part of the project was getting the correct axle from Autozone. I asked for the axle giving my correct car type...they gave me part #8000... this is the wrong axle for a stock delsol SI. this part is the same length, but fits the '90-'93 stock teggy: its inner shaft is larger than the correct axle. We thought--dangerous thing to do at times-- to ask for an axle for the '93 Civic EX. this is the correct axle. To count splines, we took a piece if white paper; wrapped it around the shaft and made an impression of the differential shaft end. we made another impression of the 'proposed' new axle, then compared the two for a perfect match!

Good job, Encyclopedia Brown!
I would have just put them tip-to-tip and looked for slight imperfections in spacing along the first three or four splines, but your way is failsafe Good thinking.

As long as they're both d-series you're fine. Push harder and rotate slightly if you can't get it to snap into place...or replace the circlip at the end of the axle.
