Default FWD...

Okay, so my mate had the a few civics. He last had a 99 model civic coupe vti. He then lost his fricking mind and got a nissan 200sx. ( I dunno, he just wanted to drift or somethin!? Lol ) He now goes on about how FWD cars are useless and cant compete with RWD cars. Okay, they do have an advantage off the mark, im not going to argue with the laws of physics BUT...

You can still get the power down on the road with a FWD.
Can you get specifc mods to help get the power down to the road and get quicker acceleration? Obviously lowering the car and a decent set of tyre's help. How many civic owners bother to convert into RWD?

in japan they put an NSX motor into a CRX not to long ago... there were vids an stuff but there all outdated i think... an i heard someone tryna do an F20 with an S2K drivetrain into an integra... Just gotta do some searchin, but i can tell u that even though my HT member date only goes back a couple years i've been on this site for wayyyyy longer than that and I have only seen like maybe one or two people actually try this conversion.... an as for ur friend who talked **** about FWD cars, just make fun of him because its not FWD cars that are slow, its just that his FWD car was slow so he hates the rest of'm lol... That drifting CRX **** isn't real drifting, anybody with a brain that doesn't have their head completely Honda's *** knows that. It's just a power slide w/ some gas - you can't hold it like you can a RWD drift.

"but they hold it around the turn" - Yeah - but that's all, you can't hold it straight on power, you need power and angle, which makes it not drifting.

@ OP:
To each his own, my dad puts his RWD cars sidewayz in the winter and has absolutely no problem doing so, but he grew up w/ RWD cars. I got a huge problem doing that, while being able to drive RWD in the snow (had to drive my Z28 in a few storms), I HATE IT.

FWD cars are better in the winter IMO as the power is directed in whatever way the steering is - but pple in cali don't even know what snow is so what's the diff .

In terms of drag racing and handling RWD is better, in terms of DRIFTING, RWD is better. In terms of snow control, FWD is better.

FWD is just better because it's a cheaper drivetrain than a RWD drivetrain - that's why all major companies switched the majority of their models to FWD - look at the corollas, used to be RWD, now they're FWD - same with Chevy Impalas - everybody realized that FWD is a ****-ton cheaper to maintain and to produce than RWD - that's why benz and BMW don't give a **** (b/c ur already talking about an expensive car) and continue w/ RWD drivetrains, that and the fact that w/ an LSD (posi rear) RWD OWNZ in handling.

If your friend wants to stay RWD because he bought his 240 and thinks he's 2 fast 2 furious then let him go for it. You sure as hell aren't in charge of him. Maybe he'll come back to Honda, maybe he'll love Nissan, to each his own. Not everybody loves Hondas - you'll just have to deal with it. If I got a good deal on a 240 I'd probably buy it, though I don't have much exp w/ Nissans. The only problem I have is these idiots that buy 240's and think they're super JDM drifters now. Though I suppose it's no different than these Honda retards idiots who think their stock LX is gonna pull on camaros.

Eh, I'm not saying civics can't be fast, but that's a far cry from your or my civics.

if you want to put power to the ground here are some things to consider investing in.

- good springs + shocks or full adjustable suspension
- camber kit
- traction bars
- tires or slicks
- lsd
- and an alignment
