Fuse shorting out, need wiring diagram, and/or suggestions
Have a Del Sol Si that has been plagued with electrical problems. It sat for several years before I purchased it a few weeks ago.
The Tail light, Instrument Light, License Light fuse keeps blowing (it blows instantly as soon as you turn the lights on). There's obviously a short. I unplugged both tail lights and the license plate lights, still a short.
Anyone have a wiring diagram for a 1994 Honda Del Sol SI? And any suggestions? I have a multi-meter, and basic tools, but I am definitely not a mechanic.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I'll try it, I don't know about the one you had, but the radio is on a totally different circuit on the Del Sol. The fuse that is blowing only controls the dash lights, tail lights and license plate lights.

I started removing center console to unhook the radio. Got dark, but tomorrow I'm on it. I gotta get this fixed, and I'm not paying for it . I seen someone "deejayjosh" posted the exact same problem, and it doesn't look like he solved it even after taking the entire inside of the car apart

Hey trust me, you can't say something I'll think is dumb at this point. It's a 10amp fuse, and I'm working my way thru a pack of 20 amp fuses (just to be sure that isn't the problem) at about a fuse every 10 minutes (well at least until it got dark).
I am currently downloading a service manual, so tomorrow I can attempt to make some kind of intelligent plan if unhooking the radio doesn't work.

I just downloaded the manual and I can't squint good enough to read it but, it did make me think that the light switch may be the problem. For that you could jump the switch or put in another switch if you have one lying around.

Re: Fuse shorting out, need wiring diagram, and/or suggestions
I got a wiring diagram. It's an .oxps document, so I have no idea how to post it (and I'm a computer programmer )
But thanks RonJ@HT you are absolutely right about the parking lights, which I will unplug first thing in the morning. Didn't even know they were on that circuit until I got the wiring diagram. I figure the problem has to be external as opposed to in the dash?? I couldn't find an "Easy" way to unplug the dash dimmer switch, but if the parking lights don't pan out, the dash is coming apart.

If you can view the circuit diagram on your computer, then screen capture an image of the circuit and post it.

Re: Fuse shorting out, need wiring diagram, and/or suggestions
I found the problem.
Thank you for the help. There is a light under the center console attached to the cigarette lighter. As far as I can tell it was made to be an illumination light for the cigarette lighter, but on the Del Sol it has no place to go so it lights up the underside of the center console. Crazy right? My guess is the Manufacturer was too cheap to make a separate harness for the Del Sol????? anyways the light was burned/melted and shorted out. Cut wires, taped ends. Bam!!!! good as new.

So I presume that the dimmer switch/cluster and climate control lights are protected by fuse 19 just like Civics.

Yeah, the dimmer switch and the climate control lights are on fuse 19, just like the unused cigarette light. I'm so glad I didn't have to go in the dash.
Now all I have to do is figure out why the fog (aux.) lights don't work. I think it's the switch?? but who knows.

If so with low beam headlights on does the indicator in the switch come on?
If so check fuse 11 in the under dash fuse box, then the Aux light relay in the drivers foot well.

Re: Fuse shorting out, need wiring diagram, and/or suggestions
Yeah, thanks. I was looking at fuses 16 and 17 which are for Canadian cars only
It was fuse 11, it's been replaced, and it works. I might make a decent car out of this thing at this rate.
Thanks again
