Default Fuse question

My car started to overheat with the air on and only at idle. So looking into it I discovered the cooling fan is not working. So instead of wasting money and replacing parts that may not fix it I tried to narrow down the problem. I used a paper clip to jump the ECT to try and get the fan going, but to no avail. I heard clicking under the fuse box and I assume its from the relay. Well I also checked the cooling fan fuse which I believe is a 10amp and it was popped like a well you know. So going forward is it okay to toss in a 25amp fuse vs a 10amp? I have both and I am not all that educated on fuses and if I can do this or not? I dont know if this will fix the problem, but its a start IMO. I got the fuse late today so I havent had a chance to test things out. Let me know, thanks guys n gals!

No, it is not okay to replace the 10amp fuse with a 25amp.

If you do you could fry your entire cooling system and possibly other things.

Get a 10amp and then try it again.

Well I went out to pop in the 10amp to replace the burnt out one, but to my dumbass surprise its a 20amp and not a 10amp, so is it still not okay to put in the 25amp? If not I will have to stop and get a 20amp, which sucks because I got the other two for free.

Sorry, but you need to use the 10amp.

Always replace a fuse with one of the same amperage rating.

Oops I meant to say the one that was burnt out was a 20amp and not a 10amp so I wasnt sure if I could use the 25amp since it was +5 more. Anyrate I went and bought a 20amp and she started moving.
