Default Fully Port and Polished head?

I have a B16a and i am going to turbo later down the road but i am wondering something? A friend is selling me a jdm b16 head with Type-r cams and its fully port and polished? should i job on it? i know type-r cams give it a little higer compression but i can always change those out when i turbo if i need too. A friend said that port and polished heads will break easier. What should i do? and hes selling if for $750 is that a good price or no, he has not used it and its still in a box? Thanks

First, Type-R cams will not increase compression. If anything, they'd actually reduce the dynamic compression compared to stock B16 cams. Regardless, I would stick with the head you already have, and put the $750 towards something more useful, like engine management and tuning.

honda makes very well designed heads and the only way to really improve on the flow is to port match and polish them. with a smoother flowing head you get more fuel and air in the cylinder for the ignition cycle thus improving power throughout the powerband. they also work more efficiently improving economy when you arent getting into the throttle. but 750 for a head that you dont need is like kicking yourself in the nuts just becuase you can. as for being easily broken that would make it a bad idea for racing and honda does it to all of thiers

I agree with Padawn here, for $750 you won't notice much. A good catback and intake manifold will do more if you don't already have those.

For $750 you can get cams, and NICE camgears.

EDITL: or you could start a mild build for your upcoming turbo, valves/springs/retainers. Etc.
