Default Brake experts need help pushrod play?

My 94 cx hb has some play after installing a new master cylinder. I made sure to bleed all the brakes. I am referring to the engagement point when the pads start contacting the rotor. It seems I have the push the pedal down maybe an inch before the car starts stopping.

It seemed by adjusting only the adjusting nut at the brake switch brought the play down dramatically. When adjusting the pushrod length at the pedal/booster it shortens or lengthens the throw? What does that mean actually? Seems like the helms talks about adjusting the push rod length for play? I am kinda of confused what the pushrod booster adjustment does? By only adjusting the nut at the brake switch helped out.

Helms states the pedal height to floor should be 6.30 inches. My car is at 5.0 inches anything to worry about? Any help would be appreciated

Did you bench bleed the master before you put it in?

Yes it was bench bled. The car also had this issue with the play prior to installing the MC.

Ok but adjusting the rod doesn't seem to affect the play? Only the adjustment at the switch.

adjust the rod further out to take up the play
yes there will be a little pressure on the rod

find a freind with a haynes manual and get the pedal height settings
your pedals might be set at wrong height to start with
