Default Fuel Rail ?

I have a question about my 95 EX. The motor is stock. I recently added a STR COMP fuel rail. No regulator or pressure gauge. My friend said i am blowing some smoke when a start up or when i really get on it. He said i am running to rich and i need to get a pressure regulator. Is this true? Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thats what i am thinking, its still getting the same amount of fuel, just stores more in the rail right?

without bigger injectors or a fuel pressure regulator, it does nothing. Stores some more maybe, but no performance gain by it self.
