Default Fuel Pump Wont Start!

I have a 92 civic cx hatch 1.5 non-vtec..now my situation is from time to time when i go to crank up the car the fuel pump wont kick on .Then there would be other days i i go to crank up the car and the pump will kick on like its suppose to..soo..i though maybe the fuel pump could be going out so i replaced it but still the same issue...the i decided maybe the main relay is faulty..so i bought and replaced..but same problem...also i check all the fuses under hood and under the dash but nothing blown..also traced the ground running from the fuel pump to under the driver seat thinking it could be a bad ground but connection is fine...so now im just stumped...so i decided to come on the forum and see if yall guys may have an idea or clue...before i take it some where to get it taken care of.

The fuel pump setup in Civic's r really very simple and u sound like u know more than less what ur doing so.. here is the circut. The ignition feeds the ecu (check for a bad ignition switch or loose wire) ecu feeds the main relay (possibly loose connection) then main relay feeds the pump. Ur best friend in a crazy situation like that is going to b a multimeter too. I have had the circut inside the ecu go bad intermitantly b4 too.

....ive check the ignition switch its getting voltage .i turn the ignition switch and when under the dash making sure all the connection are pushed at the same time listening for the fuel pump to kick on but nothing..like this morning went to crank the car nothing...but this afternoon when i got back from work i decided to give it a try and cranked it up and it started up like a champ...i even hit some blocks to burn out the cob webs.. got home i turn the car off and on a few time crank each time...so i dunno...i just dont drive her cause i cant depend on her im afraid to go somewhere and she leave me stranded...heres a pic of her!

it could be a faulty ECU or a bad circuit. Isn't there another relay that is closer to the fuel pump other than the main relay?

Try cleaning and tightening the critical ground wire (G101) connection on the thermostat housing.

I think RonJ might be right again. Its possible that its a intermittent ground problem. When your fuel pump does not prime, do you also not have spark at the same time?

When the fuel pump doesnt prime do you simultaneously not have spark?

that is pretty weird. So you have spark but no fuel pump priming...

have you checked the power feeds at the fuel pump when it is not priming to see if you have power there at that time?

i finally got the hatch up and running people...the issue was the ecu...i had a buddy that came over to swap out ecus to see if that was the issue but he chicken out he was afraid of connecting his ecu and what if i had a short and maybe it would short out his ecu so we didnt do...couple days later i was craigslist and came across a P06 for 90 bucks i decided ahh what the hell i dont know if it is the ecu or not but i took a chancen and sure enough after i hooked it up.. turn the key..and just listen to that sweet sound of a fuel pump priming..afterwards i bought spark plugs..they were fouled out..and besides the car bogging down at low rpm's i wanna say dirty injectors...but other than that get me to point a to pointb and sometime c... i wanna give thks to RonJ, Jimster, civic r87111 and Drew(bought ecu from) for all the advice, opinions, and ideas..thxs
