ide say its on its way out. specially since you can hear it w/ interior in your car. upgrade to a GSR one. prolly find one cheap. If not cheap enough upgrade to a holly one 255lph

just replace the fuel pump. stock pump shouldn't be that noisy. its easy to replace and relatively cheap.
if you go with a Walbro, it will make a humming noise - possibly loud enough to be heard with full interior. this is completely normal.

Just since we're on the topic of fuel pumps going bad, I thought I'd through out my problem and see what I get back: I have a 96 EK dx with a sir b16 swap in it. right this second it's engine turning, not starting. I checked for spark and I have it. I listened for the fuel pump priming ("whirrr" noise) and it doesn't sound anything like I remember it was supposed to sound. It's more like a clicking noise coming from the passanger seat. Is it more than likely the fuel pump? Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
