Default Frozen e-brake cables

i have a civic and the e-brake is only unlocking one side, therefore i can't drive it far. i took off the center arm rest and noticed that only 1 side of the e-brake lines is letting loose. does anyone know of a good way to unfreeze these cable lines because its like 10 degrees over here!

i had the same problem with my 96 ek sedan. theres a section of cable that is prone to freezing. to find it, run your hand along the brake cable from the brake drum on the side of the car that the cable is not releasing on. it will pass through the trailing arm and the section just past the trailing arm is where the problem occurs. wiggle it for a few seconds and you will feel it release. that will let the car move without damaging your tires. if that wasn't the section try different spots along the cable and then you'll know which spot it is.

to fix this problem on my car, i removed the brake cable, and since no one carried this part and the dealer wanted some obscene price for a cable. i lightly secured the ends of the cable in my vice (do not pinch!), pulled the cable all the way to one side and coated it in grease, i pulled the cable the other way and did the same. i then pulled the cable back and forth regreasing regularly until i figured the cable would be coated in grease. i no longer get any freezing brake cable.
