Would that stuff harm the engine because the over spray might goes into the cylinder head?

Oil change time.

Get some brake cleaner after the valvetrain if it bothers you. Just make sure you don't run the motor too long with all that stuff floating around in your oil. (spray the head down with brake cleaner, run the car a few minutes on some not-so-new oil, change the oil out).

And on the screw, take the whole adjuster nut off with the screw in it and replace both of them if you have to.

The adjuster nut does come offf but the screw itself is frozen. I'll head to Autozone to buy some rust remover. I hope the screw will come loose.

It sucks having a used car. Especially, when you don't know if the previous owner(s) took care of the car.

Have you tried using an offset screwdriver, get a little more torque on it?
