frontend noise. what is it?
i am hearing a noise from the front of my car when i come to a rolling stop(in neutral). sounds like clunking noise. you dont her it when your driving, only in neutral. i checked my hole front end and nothing is loose. i know its not the brakes, they are new and so are the rotors. my axles look fine but i was told it could be my cv joint in the axle. its a ek hatch, anybody have this problem?

they look good no play at all. i even put the car on jack stands and check to see if anything made a noise when i wiggled it with my hand. my hub bearings seem fine also. but the noise does not sound like hub bearings

i forgot to mention i had replace the changer assembly in my tranny because it was broke. i broke it while i was moving the engine around by the shift linkage when i was cleaning my garage . anyway i never replaced the counter shaft bearing because it looked fine but i think i might have to open the tranny back up and inspect it.

this noise is a pain in the ***. you dont hear is when you drive only when i press the clutch in while i am driving. if i am driving the car at 15mph then shut the car off, you can really hear it and kinda feel it too. it like a clicking noise each time the tires rotate.

And still check your CV joints...are your boots torn or shredded? Is there any play when you grab the axle and move it around, there really should be none. The tranny mounts are a safe bet to check as well.

Re: (jay-d-em)
i checked my axle. it was hard to find any play in it. but i put the car on jack stands again turned the car on and put it in gear. i started to hear the front pass. side make the noise as the tire was rolling. when i stop the tire it stopped making the noise and the driver side tire was still spining with no noise. i think its the axle. what do you guys think?

i checked the mounts they are ok. i had it on jack stands and i heard the noise around the axle. i put my hand on the knuckle and could even feel it wit my hand while the tire was spining
