Front Lisence Plate in Virginia?
I live in VA. i see alot of people w/out a front plate or with it shoved in the dashboard so its visible through the windsheild. I was wondering if this was legal? i like the look of my hatch w/out the front plate but i don't wanna ticket.

in most states i belive it is ok for your tag to be in the window if it is easily visible, if one letter is covered, or even half of one a picky ST might give you a ticket for it.
id say if you dont want a ticket, put it up front.
boy am i glad NC doesnt have front plates

Oh by the way........My ex had a pos cavaleir and her lisence plate holder broke so she would keep it on her dash. She was never pulled over for it, even when she was pulled over for speeding they would never tell her about it. Me on the other hand, i have been specifically pulled over for my plate. expletive fairfax county, they target imports.

As everyone else stated, the only legal place is to put it on your bumper, but if you stick it in your front window the troopers will usually let it slide. Though when you're dealing with Barney Fife all bets are off, since in most places no-front-plate tickets go directly into city, not state/county, coffers.
Personally, I haven't had a front plate for 15 years, gotten a ticket for it maybe 4 or 5 times, usually by a wet-behind-the-ears rookie who pulled me over for no front plate, no city sticker, not wearing seatbelt, etc. Basically an idiot who can't write a meaningful ticket that day and he stumbled across me. Personally I don't see the need for front plates and am defying the system intentionally, I was raised in a state where only rear plates were required.
There are a lot of cars w/o front plates where I live, only thing it does is to give the cop a reason to pull you over - if thats all that's wrong, they'll (usually) let you slide.
