Default Front brakes acutally klunking...Please read on.....

My brakes today were smoking bad, not visual but you couls smell it while the car was moving. So i got home and jacked it up becuase he left front was the bad one so I looked at it. For inspection they told me I need a tir rod, so will that be causing the problem? Becuase i checked the caliper and everything is tight, so how come the car is actually klunking when i apply the brake. I dont want to replace the caliper unless its a last resort, what else could it be? Thanks

might be just a warped rotor...check that (take the wheel off and free-spin the hub while looking through the rotor (@ the vents) to check for warpage.
Does the pedal pulse when you press it?

A lose tie rod would probably cause the clunk you hear. Other than that, check your upper ball joints.

repeated clunking? "clunk-clunk-clunk" or one clunk?

I'm going with bad tie rod or balljoint for the clunk and a frozen caliper for the smoke.
