Fresh LS/VTEC, no oil pressure on priming
My friends and I just finished assembling and putting in a LS/VTEC in a 92 EG. We are trying to prime the motor, but it won't build any oil pressure. The battery is kinda toast so its kinda hard to spin it quickly. The problem is that it just won't flow the oil to the head or anywhere else. The oil pump is new (GSR) and wasn't packed with any oil or petroleum jelly on install. Is there a way we can get it to build, or do we just have to keep cranking the motor til it does build some pressure. Another issue is that there isn't a oil pressure sender, we have a Oil Pressure gauge, but it isn't registering anything. Any input? Thanks

Re: Fresh LS/VTEC, no oil pressure on priming (AzSi22)
you won't get enough pressure just cranking it. you are damaging the engine like that. you have to start it because RPM's is what makes oil pressure. If the engine is just rebuilt, hopefully you used engine assembly lube for this start up which protects against metal to metal contact until oil lubricates it.
