Default Freeplay on shifter

My shifter has some freeplay side to side about 1 inch. Is there anyway to eliminate this freeplay? How abt changing the 3 bushings? Or do i have to change the whole shifter + linkage?

it is the bushing of the shifter, you will have to get the from the dealer, not the ones that are out on the market, they don't do anything for your problem

Does that mean i have to change the whole shifter + linkage assy? Wohh ... sucks big time. Type R shifters are almost impossible to get over here in SG. Even 2nd hand ones are worth the price of new ones. Hiakz ... *stress* ...

I was told the part worn out could be the rubber bushing wrapping the shifter. I don't think they sell these separate from the shift linkage.

Would that be the nut directly below the shifter?

I was thinking either Energy, Cusco, Mugen or Spoon, if it will help.

I have tried my friend's DC shifter. Quite notchy and shifting feels uncertain. Could be hazardous if there is a mis-shift.

try tightening up the shift links , if that does not work, inspect the bushings for any wear and tear. If there are some evidence then, I would suggest the factory bushing or upgraded bushings( urethane, mugen)

I think i would try to tighten it up, if that doesn't work (i'm assuming this is an aftermarket shiter) I would put some washers in there to shim it up a little.

Try tighning the shift linkz and if thatd oesn't work then get a DC sports shiter kit, that comes with all the bushings and stuff.

mine was loose too...tightened everything up didn't really help

Turns out the piece that connects to the tranny has a lot of play in it....not much I can do about it

this was a brand new part from the dealer too

The DC shifter feels notchy compared to the Type R's. I was trying out the DC in my friend's EG6 and sometimes, i can't get into 1st. Or have problem going from 1st to 2nd.

yeah i have a dc too
when i first got it
it was very hard to shift
it was pissing me off
so what i did was loosen the bolt just a little to give it some play
its the bolt that goes through the shifter where the bushings are
i noticed if you tighten it too much its hard to shift and if its too loose well then you get too much play, so you kinda have to find that sweet spot

i also upgraded the shifter bushings with energy suspension bushings
it was like $10

overall it feels alot better
another thing i did was replace the tranny fluid with redline mtf(not really sure if it makes that much of a difference but thats what i did)

The Energy bushings go for abt $45 here in SG.

Me and my friend went searching for a cure for the freeplay. Ended buying Energy ones as Cusco ones costs $130. But after buying, he found out that the bushings don't fit the Type R linkage.

Ended up just using 1 piece of bushing. LOL~!
