Default Free motor FTW!! now what do I do?

already I have a 97 hatch - stock d16y7

my brother and I just swapped an ls/vtec into a 92 integra that he built.

so the engine that came out of the teg (its an ls so b18b1? or b18a1?) is up for grabs.

what should i do?

good things - only 85,000 miles and the tranny is with it too

bad things - 3 of the head bolts are stripped so we would have to retap the holes.
and it hasnt been started in over 2 years.

is it worth it for me to take it and build an ls/vtec with it? or should I just scrap it and look for something in better shape?

it's worth it but beware of hydro lock if it hasnt been started in two years, see if you can rotate the crankshaft by hand just to make sure it is still in working condition.

Its a b18a1.

I would take it... Even though in California (where i live) it wouldnt pass emmisions and im pretty sure it wouldnt pass smog in florida either.

hell if he just wants to give it away you could take it off his hands and sell it.

Florida doesn't have smog/emissions or anything of the sort. Not anymore anyway. Even though the motor hasn't moved in 2 years i doubt it is hydro-locked. Since your building it for an LS/VTEC you dont have anything to worry about since most people change out the pistons anyway.

Hydro-locked means it sucked water.

yeah, buy a b16 head and just replace all the up-top.

Do an ls/vtec too.

and if it doesnt have a b16 or b18c1 tranny might want to get one of those too.

i'm assuming this is gonna be your first swap since you're asking should i take a free motor. so take it, make sure it can crank, retap the head, and let it ride.
it's up to you whether you want to sell it or replace your motor in your car.

you can't use the transmission unless you want to convert to cable so you will need a new one.
