Frame Damage and a Swap
I have some frame damage (seen in pictures below) the front of my engine bay ran up an earthen embankment one night, and hasnt really been the same. The engine runs fine, no problems with over heating or anything like that, the steering pully is alittle wobbly but thats not too bad..but there IS frame damage, i was wondering how this will effect a future swap ? can i get this fixed (i.e. rubber malet)? how can i tell if it will effect the swap ?

Re: Frame Damage and a Swap (Panda EK)
the shot was pretty much taken level..the latch is pushed forward. and the rest is shoved up..there is some other little things, and i hope they dont escilate into anything that would prevent the swap

Re: Frame Damage and a Swap (Panda EK)
well thats one...My hood wont shut all teh way because of the latch being how it is..umm i got some others hold on..they arent really good of focus but..ill try to take some more tomrorow
thats the radiator pushed forward against the frame..
shows the bumper damage and the hood (cause of the latch)
damage to the other side of the radiator..as you can see the fan is pushed back and broken..
i have yet to take off the front bumper to see the full extent maybe when i get some free time ill do it..i know that the metal area that surrounds the latch isnt supposed to be up like that..but as far as where the motor mounts are..i have no idea if there is damage..how would i know ? any ideas ?

Just take it to a reputable body shop and have the frame straightened, may cost a pretty penny, but isnt your car worth it. body shops straighten frames all the time, and telling from the pic, you seem to have very little damage something that may be easily fixed.

Well they do... just its integrated into the body
not like you can take body\shell off the frame like some old cars and ****.
still though, all i was saying is its a unibody construction
thats all

I did almost the EXACT thing about a month ago. I slid off the road, and hit a ditch. A friend of mine pulled me out of the ditch, and i drove home. The bumper cover was trashed. The lip was fine. The piece of the frame way down low that the radiator and a/c mounts to was pushed in about 4 inches. My hood wouldn't shut completely becuase this piece of the frame was attached to the latch by a thin piece of metal that goes upward..
you can either use a come along to pull it out, buy a new piece for like $96 and weld it on, or do what i did. I tied a large strap to the bent piece, and the other end to a palm tree near my driveway. My driveway is very steep, so i backed up in quick burst until it pulled back into place. it doesnt have to be perfect. but just enough for the hood latch to line up. I'll try and get pics on here tomorrow.

Re: Frame Damage and a Swap (Hyjnx)
Your car is fine. My car has a pretty fawked up frame from a previous accident that i didnt' know about when i purchased the car 5 years ago. Since then, it's gotten a GSR swap, TEIN RA suspension and few other goodies. I have tracked the car at least 10+ times at a local road course (LOTS of demand on the chassis of the car and i use RA1s at the track as well) and took it to the strip 2 times. It won't be a problem. Plus, from looking at your pics, your car has very slight damage.

I think you can just get a new front radiator support and have it welded on. I'm not sure if that would fix it, I would think you'd have to see it without the bumper there to see if there's any other damage.

Pull the front bumper off and take a pic!! you cant tell if your core support is bent on the bottom... If it is kinked @ all get a new one, I did

Re: Frame Damage and a Swap (MugenGTR)
I busted up my front crossbrace in my 92 Si not too long ago. It was dented and pushed up about 4" and back about 4". Radiator was pushed back and up with it causing the hood not to close all the way.
The point is I took it to a body shop and they straightened it for $100. I thought it would be very expensive, but it was fairly cheap. to P&J Paint and Body in Maryland.
I'm doing a swap soon and I don't forsee any problems because of the former damage.
