Found These Parts In My Sol Door - What Are They?
I bought a Del Sol yesterday, and began ripping it apart to figure out why the door locks and stuff don't work.
Turns out that the previous owner took the car to Car Toys to have the alarm installed, and they screwed it up badly. My driver's side door lock rod going to the interior lock was completely bent and not even hooked to the interior handle. I bent it back into place and hooked it back up, so that's fixed.
But the passenger side door doesn't lock or unlock. I unhooked the actuator and pulled and pushed on the lock rod, and there is A LOT of resistance before the rod pulls and pops into place to lock and unlock the doors...much more resistance than a door actuator can overcome for sure.
I found these parts just loose in the lower portion of my doors, and figured they may have something to do with the problem:
What do you guys think? I can't seem to figure out why there's so much resistance on the passenger side lock rod.

Re: (Coomer)
That looks like some aftermarket junk they used. I dont know
how or why it would be loose in the door tho...
It sounds like the resistance is from bent rods. Can you disconet
it and move it with your hands or does it still bind?

Re: (elwood)
I disconnected the rod from the interior lock handle and actuator. I couldn't determine how to remove the rod from the door handle itself once I got the two 10mm bolts out though.
But if I grab the bottom of the mechanism, I can move it back and forth, but it takes a good amount of effort. Think maybe if I shot some silicone or lithium grease in there it'd help?

I applied some lithium grease, and sure enough, that fixed the problem completely. The pivot points right where the rod meets the latch were very dry I guess. Now everything is nice and smooth.

I figured out what they are. They're stoppers for the windows, so they don't roll up too high. My driver's side rear stopper is missing, so the window rolls up too high.
