fog lights electrical question 99 Civic
Hi Honda Tech,
A friend of mine has some eBay fogs installed on his 99 DX coupe and the switch has gone out, he asked me to help fix it since he's very inexperienced mechanically/electrically.
So since the car doesn't belong to me I thought it won't hurt to get some good advice before trying anything.
The fogs already only work when the side markers or headlights are turned on (when the switch did work) and it seems a new switch is hard to come by OEM or after-market especially here in Canada.
What I would like to do is bypass the switch completely so that the fogs will automatically turn on when the side markers or headlights are turned on, I don't see why this would be a problem since the relay is already triggered by the side markers. I would think I can send voltage directly to the fogs and trigger the relay with the headlight switch. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
This is a picture I found and is the same switch as what is installed
However the picture shows only the trigger wire going into the relay where on this cars setup the grounds are into the relay as well and the the other two wires merge into one and are connected into the under-dash fusebox
Thanks

Re: fog lights electrical question 99 Civic
I bought an eBay kit that also had funky wiring. I ended up tossing the relay and switch they gave me and wired it myself...
That probably doesn't help much...
