Flywheel Choice problem.
Its time to pull my tranny off. Blew the diff
But I'm going to change the flywheel now
Ok I have a B16 and was looking at some lightweight flywheels.
ACT XACT ProLite-- 8.8 lbs
ACT XACT Streetlite-- 12.5 lbs
Fidanza -- 7 lbs
I already have no torque down low and hate going up hills so I don't want to go to light but I love how the Fidanza makes the car rev. So should I go a little heavier. Let me hear some opinions.
THANKS

got an act pro-lite on my b16 and it feels good to me, and as for going uphills i never had a problem. i weighed it down and it was actually 9 lbs. compared to the 8.8 that they say it is, but i guess that makes no difference.

Re: Flywheel Choice problem. (SiDonny)
the lighter the better... I have an 8Lb'er on my h22 in a civic. it rev like mad. Dont listen to people who say that it makes daily driving too hard, and that stop and go is almost impossible. BULLSHEIT!!.. if you are worth 2 cents as a driver you will figure out how to drive wiht a light flywheel in about 5 minutes.
Anyways, after my mini-rant, I say get the lightest one you can. It will be excellent on the b16

I'd say lighter the better as long as the structure isn't compromised. Everything you listed should be fine.

Re: Flywheel Choice problem. (ramtyper19)
good thread because i'm on the debate on which is best for my stock b16.
a friend told me 12lb flywheel is perfect for b16...i forgot to ask why. right now, i'm debating with sticking with the OEM ITR flywheel or the 7lb flywheel, going for AutoX.

Assume an awesome driver. A lighter fly would allow him to transplant his skill and finesse into the car better than a heavier one would? So in essence, a lighter flywheel makes the car react faster to the drivers input than a heavier one?

This before or after it was shaved?
I would say check reviews on all of them to see which has the best integrity to weight ratio. Some people have bought 8lbs flys and shaved it down to 6lbs and never had issues while others bought 12 lbs and cracked them. All about quality
I would love a 7lbs flywheel for a daily driver (its all about skill) but i would be worried about drop shifting hard on the highway and snapping the flywheel in half myself.
