Moved to your own thread. Definitely a worth while inquiry. Hopefully the pro's here can help you out.

I'm not an electrical genius so sadly, I'm not of great assistance other than letting you have your own thread early.

Best of luck.

  1. What trim level is this Civic?
  2. Are the door locks OEM?
  3. Does the car have keyless entry (via remote)?
Sounds like a car with a possible hack job.

check to see if there are any signs of repaired wires on the locking switches. Then I would use a schematic to check wire colors to the door locks i.e. locked and unlocked circuits sure sounds like a polarity issue You are locking from the master switch on the driver side I presume.

yes driver lock, it had some bad wires in dash and got a new wire harness (upick)

sounds logical, 1st Using schematic I would check to see when what wire is hot in what position (like lock)and what wire is ground at that position and then in the opposite (unlocked)since polarity changes depending on switch position.I would check at the switch on the passenger side and then at the master side. see if that checks out.

If the car was bought like this, it could be either due to
  • incorrect wiring by previous owner or
  • the use of an aftermarket door lock actuator with the motor wires already incorrectly inserted in the connector (essentially switch around).
One quick fix may be just to cut, switch, and reconnect the two wires at the passenger door motor.

Don't even cut wires. Swap the wires at the connector at the lock actuator in the passenger door. You'll need a tiny screwdriver to get the pins out. Obviously just change one side of the connector.
