FITV / Throttle Body Bypass + Additional Coolant Sensor - will this work?
Ok I am trying to bypass my FTIV but keep my IACV. I also have an aftermarket coolant temp. sensor I want to use but dont want to lose use of my OEM sensor.
So I traced my lines an this is what i came up with as the OEM setup. I couldnt tell if coolant went through the line going from the head -> TB - > IACV. I think its a coolant line cause the IACV runs off coolant so i dont see what else it would be, correct me if im wrong!

THe reason for the coolant lines to the IACV is to keep it warm so it doesn't freeze. The FITV uses the coolant temperature to adjust internally similar to a thermostat.

By looking at that diagram the way to do is connect #3 to left side of T connect #6 to right side of T and connect the coolant sensor to the top of the T. Then throw away hose 1-2 or just loop it on the IACV if you wanna keep it in there for later use.

thanks but my setup looks a bit different than yours. I have an OBD0 IM I believe.
My FITV doesnt connect to my IACV directly, they are on their own loops. My fit isnt attached to the TB its only attached to the intake manifold from the side. My IACV connects to the throttle body which has a metal tube goin thru it and connects to the head on the other side... I can take pics if you want but its just like in my diagram.
Like I said my IACV DOES NOT connect to the FITV like in your diagram... I think your diagram is for obd1 motors maybe?

See the FITV goes:
IM -> FITV -> BLOCK
But IACV goes:
HEAD -> THROTTLEBODY -> IACV -> BLOCK
Can you see what i mean from the pic? I labeled everything as best i could so you know where stuff goes...

I see. You don't need to run the coolant lines to the IACV. Remove the lines from the IACV and plug them on the T. Then run your sensor from the T. Other than that it looks good...

ok yeah i got you, but i wanted to retain the IACV, not bypass it (its super cold out here in NY) so in that case would i leave it connected?

Btw, make sure you put a gasket inbetween the FITV and TB since it will allow air to enter the TB and vary your idle... the idle will change with temperature changes.. i.e. in the evenings it will be a higher idle due to lower temperatures... so put a gasket in there so that air cannot be bypassed into the throttle body

ok yeah i screwed the FITV diaphram all the way in like to bypass it would that be enough or do i still need the gasket?
Also what about keeping the IACV (just without running the coolant thru that TB pipe).
The IACV only takes in 2 coolant lines right? So there is no way that throttle boddy tube is for air?
just dont want to connect it wrong and dump coolant on the cylinders

you can bypass it then but it's up to you... and yes, use a gasket between FITV and throttle body... the reason for the coolant in the FITV is to keep the FITV's temperature the same as the motors/coolant... so if no coolant is running throug that plunger will open up when it's colder outside and allow more air to get in the throttle body even when the motor has warmed up...you don't want that..so use the gasket
