Default First trip to the track

It was the first time taking my 94 ex to the track and though disappointed at the 16.6/ .709 reaction, the up side is this just means theres plenty of room to improve. Any suggestions to help out the time are very much appriciated.... Also i heard getting that msd ignition will help out on time is anybody familiar with this and could give me a clue on what to buy?

Mods? Is it stock? Plans?

MSD will give you a bigger spark.

msd won't help you out...

just get a swap and be done with.

all the money your going to waste on the d series, just sale the d series motor and get a dohc motor.

if you want to keep the d series... buy a turbo kit... screw the other bolt ons.

You can get the d turbo for around $1500 or so home-made, while any decent swap will cost at least around $2500. The upside to the swap is more tunability. People forget about that a lot of times. Even though the B16 will only give about 15-20 ft-lbs and 45 more horse, having two cams will be a HUGE advantage when tune time comes.

The choice is yours. i can't wait to turbo, but I am glad that I have a B-.

What mods do you have?

I was always under the impression that mid 16's would be extremely good for a stock EX.

Also, what was your 60' time?

Where is the rest of the time slip information? It's difficult to judge from the numbers you've provided, since reaction time doesn't affect your E.T.

good tires, LSD, 4.9 FD practice. You'll school people telling you to go homemade turbo and any swap under 4K

Right..... and then you wake up. Theres alot of swaps under 4k that will still spank the d, like a h22, b18b, b20just to name a few. Oh and god forbid you turbo either of the b series your still under 4k

I think you could have pulled a 16.0 or 15.9 maybe

The former is true, but the latter is not. All of those things will help, in the long run no matter which motor, B-, D-, n/a or turbo, but driver skill and motor mods remaining the same, a B- will almost always take a d-, and turbo will most always take n/a.

Good tires, LSD, and a better FD does a car good though.

Nice run. But also not a nice thread jack. Post your own thread about it next time or points get deducted. Read the rules.

If you dropped your 60 foot down to maybe a 2.2 you would have much better times. My bro ran 16.0 in a DX hatch with just intake/exhaust/p28, but he had a 2.1 60 foot. Work on your driving and youll get the most potential out of that 170 whp you bought

Ok, you have been here just over than a half a year, which I have hardly posted since then until now. I always have good information to offer and hardly ever bitch. When I say things like that, I am trying to help the other person out so that they don't get points deducted. Search it N00b. I have respect from many of the elder posters, so quit acting like you've been here for soooo long. You don't know me.

And this is no good either? Get out if you can't follow the rules.

Like I said. To the original poster, your setup is good, you just need some practice. And a turbo B-series j/k.

1). Reaction times mean nothing for your end result
2). MSD will not help out crap except maybe your idle
3). With I/H/E you should be MUCH quicker. I ran 15.8 in y 93 ex with only the above listed mods. Full interior, streeet tires.
