He has only put like 20k on it since he has had it...maybe even less....just wondering.Ryan

The 5 probably means 5 million series witch was from a civic, crx in japan. The 1 series was from a teg. What color are the plugs on the wiring harness?

not sure of the color of the plugs.I know that in japan they scrap these engines way sooner than they do here....i know its not a second gen....he told me its a first gen so that falls in the years of 88-92....i was just wondering how many miles might be on it.....just curious since im hopefully going to buy this car....a compression test will be the deciding factor....

Hey vanilla, just curious as to why they scrap the engines so soon there? I mean honda engines run FOREVER...why so soon....thats not even broken in yet. Care to shed some light on the subject? thanks for the reassurance. Ryan

they have a tax that they pay every two years on their cars..the tax is super high..like a 2,000 luxury tax..and their inspection is freakin insane..they have to replace things like trim rubber and crap like that..so a lot of people just scrap their old cars and buy new ones..about the mileage though...there is really no way to tell how many miles are on it..what you should worry about it if it has been properly maintained..a motor w/ 50K miles on it and no oil changes will not last as long as one with 200K and regular oil changes. make sure the motor pulls hard and doesn't smoke..good luck dude.

Re: first generation jdm b16a (SuperCivic)
thanks man. so no wonder you have to be a very wealthy person in japan to really get anything cool....i have a few friends from there that said everything is expensive...even basic things like food. I know the guy that is selling me the car so im not too worried about it....im going to run a compression check and all that stuff.....when he started it, it had been sitting for a week or so because he was gone...no smoke,no hesitation,no funky smells....just pure power i cant wait to get ahold of this thing...sure beats the crap out of what i drive now.
