Re: first car
Go check it out and then go from there. Sounds like he wants to sell it fast. I'd offer 3000 and then see what he says.

Re: first car
id offer 2200. how long ago was the timing belt and water pump done, also which axle was replaced and why. it an auto and correct me if im wrong, but dx model eg's dont come with ps. the wheels and custom sunroof shouldnt affect the price.
side note: why do people always say the car has a fresh oil change like that increases value?

Re: first car
If anything a custom sunroof lowers the value IMO, a friend has a civic with a custom sunroof and it jammed and honda couldn't fix it as they would've an OEM sunroof

Oh, I didn't look close enough, just assumed it was a manual, and I'm not digging the non-original sunroof.
DON'T BUY. Get a manual so you don't kick yourself in the butt down the road. Trust me man, I've been down that road. Just keep searching, you'll find a nice 5spd hatch

Re: first car
$2200 it's 14 going on 15 and it's auto. More than likely it's a nonvtec too
Ps I love it when paisas swear these cars are race cars from the factory. Some old guy is selling one down the street from me for $4200 completely stock with 225,xxx miles on the original engine and auto tranny

Re: first car
IMO any pre-01 Civic makes a terrible 1st car, mainly from a safety point of view. Not only are they nearly the smallest cars on the road, they only have a 3-of-5 crash rating for the driver, and no side airbags. They're also too easy for n00bs to slam with coilovers, further making it dangerous since they spend their money on ice cream and txtmsg plans rather than a proper wheel alignment.
Get a mid- to full-sized car for the first year or two, then upgrade to a quick Honda. FWIW, I paid $3200 for my 3rd car - stock 1995 CX hatch - nearly a decade ago. Anything above $2k in almost any state is a rip-off for a non-swapped Civic, rust or not.

Re: first car
Id pick up the silver one, it seems fairly priced. Just ask a mechanical friend to look at it for you. 3g for a stock eg? thats insane, ek's go for around 2500 around here for a decent one.

Re: first car
that's a better deal for the silver ek
but not only is that a better deal but it's also proof that the eg is over priced and that you gotta wait for the opportunity for a good deal
