First actual buildup
Okay so yesterday i traded my gsr blades for a d16z6 complete swap minus p28 (got a p06) 100 dollars and a set of steelies.
So the guy said the z6 has a bad intake valve which is why he wasnt using it - well i wanna go with boost so i was gonna do some new rods and pistons.
But the head is alrdy off on timing (bent valve).. so do i need to goto top dead center (tdc) before taking head off of the block??
I havent ever built a engine but i learn hands on and have a chiltons right there with me. any help would be great!

Doesn't the Chiltons tell you how to take the cylinder head off? I thought they were based on a complete tear-down? I don;t see naything in my Helms about setting it so you should be fine just following what they have, if you need me to post up the instuctions I have let me know.

Re: (Ron454321)
it does show about putting it to tdc before taking it off, but since ima have the head ither rebuilt or use a differnt one, should i still do that?
also like stated above i plan on using different rods/pistons so basicly the whole engine will be torn apart.

Re: First actual buildup (BiG_DeE)
you dont have to tdc it until after your done building it, after you have built it, line up all your marks and make sure your rotor on the distributor is on the #1 piston.

Re: First actual buildup (switchjv)
so after building the head/block, just take the head when its not on the block and put it at tdc? and same with block when its not attached to head?
