Default Water Pipe Replacement

ok, i've decided that i should change the corroded water pipe on my B16A while i have the thermostat housing off
but it's stuck in there probably from corrosion because the car sat for years with tap water in the cooling system.
do i just have to pull hard on that pipe to get it out or is there something else holding it on? i tried pulling but don't
want to break something that i can't easily fix.

thanks!

Yes, pull hard. A slight twisting motion back and forth should help too while you are pulling.

that's what i tried but i'll pull and twist even harder. is it possible to get a new pipe back on without dropping the intake manifold?

It's honestly easier to deal with when the motor is outside the car and the manifold is off. You can then get decent leverage and power in your wiggle pull. It's also a lot easier to clean the hole the pipe goes into.

I'm sure you can do it with the motor in the car but it's going to be a lot more challenging. And it will be even more challenging doing it with the manifold in place. That is my opinion based on the one time I pulled that pipe, but mine was on a D series. YMMV

Have you considered the possibility that the engine is not worth saving due to severe internal corrosion caused by tap water and time?

I got it running very well or wouldn't be doing all this work.

OK, i got the water pipe out but i had to use a pry-bar on the tang because it was STUCK.
After removing i was glad that i decided to replace it because it's very corroded.
the problem now is that i'm not sure what year Integra this motor came from
and it's a JDM . I THINK that it's an 1989, 1.6 but i don't want to order the wrong pipe.
any help identifying this thing would be greatly appreciated.
for some reason my images won't upload.....
