Default Finally , the time has come. wo0t!

Im getting my b18c1 in mid August. ( FINALLY! )
Heres the thing
i have a 95' civic EX coupe (white)
i have $5,000.
Im getting the complete b18c1 for 3,000 total. Im picking it up myself.
My mechanic says hell install it for free if he can keep my current d16z6.
So im left with $2000

Im thinking of getting the following :
DC Sports 4:2:1 header 350
Aem Cold Air Intake 200
Cat Back Exhaust (havent decided on brand yet) 600

Total = 1200 w\ taxes.

Im lef t with 800 dollars.

I need some ideas of what to get for my engine with 800 dollars.

IM thinking Type R Cams, buut if i get those do i need to get some other mod for them or not.

Any other ideas ? Thx guys.

HAHAHAHAHA YOUR GOING TO PAY $800 for some pipes!? dude, be serious. get a stock GSR airbox w/out resonator & K&n drop in. - max $100 then just get a good axle back $180 and get a muffaler shop to install custom piping to the axel back. ~ $100 max.

and save some beans ****!

and what you should do INSTEAD of getting cams right away is to get a skunk 2IM and a good header.

Since you`re in Hawthorne, if you don`t mind driving to the Valley, I have a great muffler/exhaust guy, He`ll do the job you want for like 100. all day long. 2.25 or2.5 stainless piping with niice bends(mandrel more). LMK.

Do a timing belt and H20 Pump while its out. Do a tune up and get some cams and valve train, do all of the hard **** first.

Header Tech header from what Ive been reading lately, screw the CAI, just get some 2.5 inch piping straight through with a universal muffler or something (ES oval, SKunk2, ES N1, Apex'i) All pretty cheap with good sound....

Use the extra $$ to update that motor b4 you install it then upgrade to some internals. Before you install the GSR change the timing belt, water pump, camshaft seal, crankshaft seal, rear main seal, distributor cap/rotor. Buy a upgraded clutch, I recommend Clutchmasters or ACT. Once that's done get yourself some CTR cams and internals or even Skunk2 cams & internals. Then maybe the Skunk2 intake manifold, it'll be a lot better than that GSR manifold. If you do that b4 the motors in you'll have a bad *** car on your hands.

And just like everyone else said, you could do the exhaust for a lot cheaper, get a better header(either JDM ITR or JDM DC Sports 4-1). Oh and also get yourself a nice fuel pressure regulator. It'll do wonders for those internals.

With the extra cash after that(if you have any left) get a VAFC and take it for some dyno tuning. Internals are always better than bolt-ons my friend. I you have the money and the means then get it done. Just my .02

Make sure the engine you are buying is 100%, then worry about spending money.

Also buy a GOOD header, CAI or the box and drop in filter, and $600 for a cat back exhaust! Wow I could buy two 3" mandrel bent systems for that! and then two mufflers with that too! all for under $600 shipped. I have $600 into my whole exhaust, which includes, DC JDM header (bought used), high flow cat, 3" mandrel bent exhaust, and a duel rear section with two mufflers.

But yea, don't waste money, Just cuz it's expensive doesn't mean it's worth it.

screw all that.

Instead of all that money on bolt ons, get a better tranny with LSD...ITR or SirII with LSD....WAY better tranny and get you quicker down the road

Emerika's advice is a good one. Get an ITR with a 4.8FD and LSD tranny and screw the gsr tranny. Some companies will do that for an extra charge instead of having to buy the GSR Complete and buying a ITR tranny. You will see more significant gains than with your bolt ons. With 600, I would rather get a nice custom header from AN-R.com or Header Tech. Gains are impressive even with a stock motor and you will be satisfied with the headers even when upgrade your motor. Timing belt is a must to. New water pump is suggested. Intakes won't give you hp gains like you hope for, just ditch it and get a K&N filter Have fun!

I would get a new clutch for sure. And the regular maintenance stuff like timing belt, water pump, plug, etc...... Because you don't know how the previsious treated the motor or if he beat the hell out of it. Mind as well pick up a lightened flywheel to considering they are only like $200 fidazana.

Ah **** it. After reading more and more and tihnking it out, i finally made my final decision.

b18c5

Its gonna be a daily driver. Ill be happy w\ a 200hp civic. I dont wanna mess with it too much. I'll get the b18c5 have it insstalled and just get i\h\e and call it a day.

If im gonna get a gsr and mod it , ill still be somewhere earound a b18c5, might as well spend the extra 1100 and get the b18c5.
