filling tranny, small bb flowed out at the end, after tranny job
'95 Civic DX D15B7
So, the other week I replaced my tranny input shaft bearing. I was careful and followed a guide from the FAQ here. The bearing was definetly in need of replacement. I didn't inspect the rest too carefully, but what I saw and turned seemed ok. Put it back together with the Hondabond, let it cure, etc.
When I added the Honda Genuine MT fluid, at the very end when it was full, a small bb flowed out.
The car shifts and drives fine. I'm not going back in there soon, thank you very much.
I am curious, anyone have any idea which bearing it might be from? How worried would you be?
Just under 4mm diameter.

Could have been one of the ***** inside the old isb that fell out and you didnt notice. That or one from the mainshaft bearing at the top of the shaft.

Drive it till It breaks then fix it if you really don't want to redo it again now lol. You would believe how much a honda can take.

Yup, look at that, it was probably one of those. Thanks. (I think the ISB ***** are bigger too, but I threw it away before I refilled the fluid anyway)
Yeah...I don't know when I will have time to get back in there. Sooo, if it breaks I will fix it then, lol. Or maybe if I get done with all my other car projects first.

I've taken apart and rebuilt a bunch of these transmissions and I can't ever recall seeing a bearing that small.

Yup, then it is probably one of those steel *****, not a busted bearing. Still not good, but I feel a little better. It looks fun trying to find which one is missing.

No I mean literally nothing in there is that small. All the detent ***** are about 5/16"/8mm I have no idea where that came from, but it wasn't supposed to be in there.

Well, I guess I won't worry about it.

I guess it somehow could have come from the new cheap fluid pump I was using, or one of the MTF bottles, anything is possible.

Most likely it was from your transmission, not the MTF you used
Did you keep track of the steel ***** underneath bolts (mentioned above) during the rebuild? I almost lost one when I rebuild my transmission, it's easy to forget one

94EG8 above said nothing in the tranny is that small.
It works, so I will drive it until it breaks.

OK, I investigated the pump I used, and guess what? This piece of **** was the cause, and it was the first time using it. It was some cheap tool from the parts store. Next time I will get some tubing from the hardware store big enough to go on the end of a funnel.
Here is a view looking at the bottom of the pump, there is another ball waiting inside. This is where the tube attaches to go into the bottle of fluid.
The package should say "steel ball insertion device for your vehicle."
