filling in stock spoiler holes

anybody done this? how did you do it?

i was given one suggestion of using fiberglass on the underside of the trunk lid, then bondo'ing the top.

is there anything easier, where i dont have to mess with fiberglass?

really?

I dunno, i heard that fiberglass resin is some pretty wicked crap and will permanently adhere to anything you stick it to, and dries nice and waterproof.

yeah, the wiring hole is a bigger one. the others are pretty small. Heh, my boss has some spare CF sheets laying around, i should just do it bling style with that. lol.

Any more suggestions?

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (s1ngle)

the correct way to do it is either weld the holes closed or weld a flat piece of thin metal, grind it, bondo, etc.

ive seen duct tape, electric tape, or plastic vinyl sticker type stuff put on, that matches the car color to hide those holes..

My friend bought some bondo from the hardware store, sanded the hole surface smooth and then he just pasted the bondo over the holes and let it dry, and then re-sanded it and it was flush.

antiJDM 08-11-2004 01:05 PM

i currently use electrical tape.

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (skaterguy)

wait, how the crap do you put bondo over holes without somehow having a backing? that crap will just glop through the holes and fall into my trunk fool! http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (s1ngle)

Just like other people said, welding the holes shut is probably the best (only) way to do it, but the fiberglass method seems the next best thing imo. Good luck.

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (eastbay92cx)

After taking the wing off of my gsr, I put masking tape over the holes on the top, put that metal mesh(the shit that comes with Bondo) over the holes on the bottom, and smeared bondo through the mesh on the bottom. The next day I pulled the tape off the top and it was damn near perfect, except for the fact that all the holes were fucking pink and my car is white. I used a little Bondo on the top to fill any imperfections, sanded it smooth, threw on a coat of white primer, then some white pray paint ande it looked fine.

good idea. thanks.

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (s1ngle)

fiberglass is pretty easy to work with, its just a bitch in a half when it gets on you, cause its itchy eeek. but yah id probably just fiberglass it for backing, and spread bondo over the top, sand it smooth, and paint it. probably wouldnt take long at all, just dont get that shit in your trunk -_-

but if you REALLY dont wanna mess with fiber glass, then just do like that other dood said and get some thin wire mesh and bondo over it on the underside for support
and then after it cures put it on the top side, sand it smooth and paint and you should be good to go.

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (ubercerealkiller)

good input. I think i will try some fiberglass. i'm gonna take the trunk off and mask it and stuff. hopefull i won't make a mess.

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (s1ngle)

if you've never worked with glass before, MAKE SURE you dont put too much of the hardner stuff in the resin, or you'll regret it LoL, Shit gets hot! we made a paper cup smoke up and stuff, it was funny

Re: filling in stock spoiler holes (ubercerealkiller)

when they did mine i was told by 1 shop that they couldnt do it because it would later detiorate

another shop did it for me and it looks like they sprayed some type of foam that hardened under the trunk black in color and they bondo'd the top. i guess the foam tar thing under the trunk is to prevent it from somehow opening or messing up? no idea about body work.

antiJDM 08-13-2004 08:04 AM

JB weld...just dont coat it on you'll have to sand it away...

Re: (2thousandcivic)

jbweld a small peice of aluminium to the underside of the whole, bondo/fiberglass on top. Plugs are quicker though https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
