FiberGlass HooD?
I'm kinda looking for a fiberglass hood - why? Weight savings. I know it's not gonna help much, but I figure when the time comes to the all of the body work, I might as well toss in a super lightweight hood. I figured fiberglass might be my best bet, mostly for cost savings.
So, to sum it up.
- I want a VERY lightweight hood that will last.
- Cost is an issue!
- It WILL be painted!
Anybody have any ideas? I've been searching a lot, but I'm mostly coming up with C/F hoods. Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind buying a C/F hood, but I really don't want to spend the extra money on their special coatings and super awesome weave patterns when it's just going to be covered up by paint.

Best I could find was at Andy's Auto Sport
http://www.andysautosport.com/...Hoods
None of them are stock, and they all cost about the same (little less) as getting a CF hood.
I ordered from Andy's years back, they may have changed there service - but last time it was okay at best. They did help me with some problems that popped up, but communication between order and receiving was mild.

Re: (Vero)
Hmm.... I'd prefer one without all of those crazy startrek styling spaceship mods, you know? Hehehe
Thanks for the help! I'm still looking myself, if I find anything I'll post it up here for future reference - if anyone else has some ideas please let me know!

I know you said you are looking for a hood for weight savings.... but For the few pounds you drop with a change of hood, you should look into getting a light battery. You'll drop alot more wieght off and it should only cost you under $80. PM Rodney or check his post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=695215

good luck on the search. Nopi used to be full of that stuff, but they seem to of all gone carbon.
Heck, I would ask Newman or BodyKitsNW, they all sell CF hoods and can tell you most just fiberglass with a Cf layer on top. Maybe they can special order you one without the CF layer?
The only downside to a smaller battery is you cant run much for accessories. Dont know if this is his street car.

or get both, a fiberglass hood isn't as expensive as a cf one and it weighs less. so for the price of a cf hood you can have both! i'd recommend a hawker genesis battery, but swap to the stocker during the cold months.

RighT oN!! Thanks deez92! That is a perfect match for what I was looking for...
To reply to the other info listed, a lightweight battery along with relocating it is definitely on my to-do list. I had an Odyssey PC680 battery in my old CRX and it was great. It weighed in at 15lbs and provided excellent cranking power, never had it run out of juice. Just FYI, you can buy the odyssey (made by hawker) battery at the link below.

Thanks everyone!

Try contacting member "Rodney" here on H-T. He runs a very lightweight fiberglass hood (and fiberglass flared fenders) on his Civic. His signature indicates that he offers the fenders for sale, so it's possible that he might also offer the hood, or could at least tell you where to obtain a similar one.

Re: FiberGlass HooD? (Padawan)
Yeah, I already PM'd Rodney - turns out his hood was custom made and he didn't have any information on selling any replicas. His definitely turned out nice though.
But it doesn't matter, as the above link is exactly what I needed.
