FF-Squad member's car VIOLATED.....almost stolen........Pasadena, CA
I am so damn lucky.
Saturday night decided to take the EK out to dinner with the girlfriend, and I never
take this car anywhere but to work and anywhere I can keep an eye on it. I've
been with my girlfriend for about 10 months now and this was only the second
time she had ever ridden in it.
Went to Old Town Pasadena and parked in the parking structure on Green and
Raymond.....top level was the only place available. Put my Autolock on the clutch
pedal and my steering wheel under my seat because I didn't want to carry that
**** all night at dinner. Turned the alarm on and went to eat. Came back about
two hours later and immediately saw my hood was popped, down but not latched.
Looked inside and saw this ****:
Apparently they pried the window and got the door open. Luckily only a scratch.
From there they must have got the hood open from the inside. Once under the
hood they were able to locate the main power wire going to the fuse box and
pulled it out to kill the alarm. I guess they thought I had some mickey mouse
alarm and they would be able to start it. Luckily my homie (JOO) who put the alarm in
knows whats up. The ignition and starter are dead unless the alarm is reconnected
and disarmed. Even if they kill power to it with the alarm going off and then
reconnect it, it still remembers it is in full alarm mode. Only way to start it is
disarm the alarm with the remote or unhook the alarm completely and rewire it to
stock.
They left the power wire for the alarm hanging out over the headlight so they
could keep putting power to it and try to start the car.
Besides destroying the ignition, they started to cut my clutch pedal arm with a
hack saw to try and remove the Autolock.
They got about a third of the way through it and stopped. I think they must have
seen me coming, got scared off by something, or gave up. The parking structure
was very busy and I'm sure someone had to of seen them.
They only took my Nardi steering wheel and my Broadway mirror.
My brother came and brought me another quick release and steering wheel.
Installed the wheel, reconnected my alarm power wire, and drove home.
It was the greatest feeling......knowing my car was so close to being gone and I
was driving it home.
I feel bad for those it has happened to especially Katman and FF-Marc's Type R.
R.I.P.
Suggestions for those who don't want to get jacked (probably heard them all):
1. Hide your alarm and wiring as best you can, especially the power wire.
2. Install a hood switch for your alarm.
3. Route your hood cable through the frame rail and into the engine bay.
4. Use an Autolock....It will slow them down.
5. Use hood locks or hood cable lock.
6. Kill switches for fuel, ignition, starter.
7. Don't leave your steering wheel in the car.
8. Tracking Device
9. Make your car ugly and get rid of all your JDM ****.
10. Sell it and by something less desireable to thuggish car thieves. (probably what I'll do)
I am sure there are more, but **** it.
I hope these a-holes car theives get Cancer in their ***** and they have to have them chopped off............bitches!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glad its safe..
now your girl will also know to remind you to never take it out, and have it not in your sight...
also relocating your main relay would help also if your alarm did fail...

Glad they didn't get the car man.......its shitty that we have to be so damn sneaky with our theft prevention stuff these days. Oh yeah.....a GREAT and totally free way to make your car almost unstealable is to cut the two fuel pump pins on the main relay and then solder a fused jumper in between them. Pull the fuse and there is no physical connection to the fuel pump. Impossible to start the car. Best thig is that the jumper will be tucked way underneath the dash and folks generally don't look on the passenger side when they try to steal a car. That plus alarm and starter kill has saved me MANY times in Phoenix.

Does your homie work for a shop or does installs on the side? Can you PM me his contact info? I plan on upgrading to a better alarm system this summer (after I get my power window/lock conversion done). I need someone who knows how to install an alarm along with all the extra anti-theft countermeasures.

imo take your dashboard apart and wire your alarm into your dash harness and re wrap it. try to run anything through body panels as much as possible to keep outside access from it to a min. And try to put hoses and zip ties over the harness covering to make it a bitch to cut through and access.
The more steps you take to putting an alarm together the better.

so were they trying to drive your car off? detachable steering wheel! how would they know the steering wheel was still in the car? isn't this security one of the best?
also, the thieves are STUPID! Cutting the clutch pedal away?!?!?! there is ANOTHER way to defeating the autolock and it doesn't even involve cutting... some guy posted a pic of how they beat it... but yea i'm glad that slowed them down....
damn that sux... those thieves are amateurs... lame

Another story that confirms why it was a good idea that I had hood and hatch pins installed. 2-way alarm would help because once it goes off it gives you some time to roll up your sleeves and get ready to kick some *** while the theives work.

Damn, they'll prolly use your quick release on other cars they try to steal.
I carry my steering wheel everywhere with me. People say **** about it all the time but I dont care.
At my school parking lot someone broke into my car, they were looking all over for my steering wheel, thinking I was too emberassed to bring it with me to class, but I wasnt

your lucky man. It's better to be complaining about a break in than mourning a lost car.
I'm gonna put an angry midget with a knife in my car to prevent such a thing from happening to my ride.
