Default a few n00b(-ish) ?'s

Okay, here's a few questions:

1) I'm asking for an opinion here: should I swap to a B18C and keep it n/a or buy a B16A and turbo it?

2) Does anybody have any experience ordering motors through http://www.hmotorsonline.com? If so, what's your opinion of them?

3) Does anybody know a ballpark figure of how much taking my car to a Honda dealership to have them perform the swap would cost? I really don't want to do it myself... I don't trust myself enough to perform a swap.

4) Will a header for a D16Z6 fit with a B18C or B16A?

I'd appreciate any answers to these questions (minus the sarcasm ). Thanks.

1) You can't ask a question like that because obviously everyone has either setup and is going to tell you the other one sucks

2) Many people have ordered from Hmotors most had good experiences, some bad

3) I'm almost positive a dealership will not swap an engine for you and if they did it would probably cost at least $2,000. Look for a tuner or garage to do it.

4) No it will not fit

thanks... the only problem with finding someplace to do the swap is where I live... the middle of nowhere, PA... it sucks

anyway, thanks for the quick responses

the header ? makes me regret having even bothered modifying my tired old D16...

1)Like he said^^^ you cant ask that but i would rather a turbo b16 but that would be more expensive but faster.
2)H motors is great,if you get a bad part they will send you another one, great motors, but you pay for it.They arent the cheapest. Most people here get them there.
3)They would never do it.Even if they did it it would be way too expensive.
4)No.

thanks for the link... few of them are close-ish... close enough for me, anyway...

there was someone on http://www.cardomain.com that had a swap done at a dealership, so I was just wondering....

how expensive is the shipping on hmotors?

also, I'm leaning towards the B16 and turbo... anybody know where I can find a turbo for it? everywhere I've looked so far just has turbos for usdm motors.

Well that guy must be an idiot lol

I never got anything from HMO

You do realize you need a turbo KIT right not just a turbocharger? Anyway, USDM/JDM doesn't matter dude. As long as the kit is for a B-series into whatever car you have, it'll work. The manifolds for all B-series fit each other and all you gotta worry about is the correct piping for the intercooler.

ummm both garages around here would swap a motor for about 500 but thats in OKC, OK.

i prefer tubro over NA. because 1-NA's arent as good DD's. and blow off valves are mean..lol.
get a b18b LS motor. and turbo it. they love the turbo. thats what u should do... u kan pick that swap for about 2.2k and http://www.asapmotors.com is a great place. and a reg tubro kit is like 900 bucks. so....

See this is why you can't ask that first question. He claims N/As make horrible DD. Thats weird, I commute to school and work with my all motor ITR (50 miles everyday). And my friend blew up his stock LS turbo in 2 months while I've had mine for 6 and its still good. Does that mean all turbo motors are not reliable, of course not. Its all about the build and tune. The only N/A setup that wouldn't be a good DD is a 14:1 compression 2.2 with Pro3s or something ridiculous, just like a 40psi built 2.0 turbo wouldn't be the ideal DD either.

1) Out of those two? As a daily driver I'd say B18C

2) I have a little exp w/ hmotors, I've never personally bought from them. Their engines come nice, very well, very true to the word, very good customer service...HORRIBLE PRICES. Don't buy from them, the only thing that gets bored out is your ******* when they're done with you. Circum 30k miles is a good mileage engine - but when it costs close to 1000 bucks for a JDM D15B that's when you know you're payin too much (and for those who are gonna link me saying "it's only 450" yeah - right, right, call 'em up and ask for a quote, w/ tax, shipped, w/ the tranny & ECU). I would never buy from them.

3) I'm not even sure if a Honda dealership will perform an aftermarket motor swap. Though ballpark? Enough to make you cry when you leave.

4) No.

yea that is true. but why im saying not a good DD. is because in order to run a high comp car u need higher octane Right? therefor more money for gas. and therfore more expesnive.

True. I ran 93 in my B16 anyway so it makes no difference for me

In my 11.6:1 ITR I run 93 and it doesn't ping/knock.

to the op, it'll be alot easier to do the job yourself. grab a friend or 2, pick up a repair manual (they come in handy), and access to this site and swapping the motor would be cake. not to mention it will be fun as well as a learning experience for you and your buddies.
