might as well just get a gsr block and build it for serious boost..if u are just gonna go all out, which means turbo internals anyway

If i were you, Id get the B18c1 or even the b18b swap and build then internals for boost...The higher compression ratio of the B18c5 (or b18cR for you) means boost has to be watched more closesly, but whatver floats your boat!!!

My best friend in high school had a turbo type r and it was perhaps the worst decision ever. You will have unbelivable detination along with many other problems that will haunt your car for ever, and this was at only 7 psi... want to know more about what will go wrong, pm me

if your serious about it
i would stay away from the R engine
get a gsr swap
reasons?
1) lower compression, if you dont plan on building the motor. lower=better for boost
2) gearing is a littler father apart than an r transmission
3) its CHEAPER for the 2000$ your gonna save, you could boost it immediatley.
or build the engine

Sounds like he already has a GReddy turbo kit.
I'd just save your money and swap in a B18C. Unless of course you just want to say that you have a turbo'ed ITR engine

if a turbo R is really what you want to do, then go for it. there is nothing bad about turbo-ing an R engine. just like any turbo, if u build it right and maintain it, it'll be good. of course with anythign, problems arise. just have the funds to fix things and your car would be really quick.

Re: FAWK it Im going for it (EK99)
Boosting a Type R motor is stupid and dangerous
If you want a turbo get a B18B or C
If you want a turbo get a B18B or C
BUT the type r motors are exceptionally dangerous because of the high compression, high lift and durations cams etc etc.
they are not the best engine for boost, but its not "stupid and dangerous" it cna be done, ive seen 400+hp R motors.

if i were you instead of spending around 5 grand for a type r motor for the tranny and everything I would just get a b18c1 block and go from there. Build that to hold more boost then get a ls tranny and you're hauling ***
Either a GSR boosting 15 pounds
Or a Type R boosting 7 pounds on high compression
