1. chaffey community college, Rancho Cucamonga, Ca

2. 1991 honda civic std. jdm 91 b16a, skunk2 intake manifold, del sol vtec exhaust manifold, jks exhaust, correct emissions/ obd1 conversion w/ obd1 injectors, usdm p30, rywire jumper, DA intake arm to stock ef air box w/ K&N filter

3. came there ten minutes early and parked in front of the garage, then i was told i wasnt able to pre heat my car in the parking lot so i turned it off. At first i thought this was gonna ruin my test. the guy looking over my hatch was very informative looked over everything, including the ecu. so they finally pull it in the dyno and it passed real good. overall i thought it was going to be harder than it actually was but everything went smoothly and the techs were really nice people. they gave me compliments of my swap and car.

1. San Jacinto College, CA

2. 1990 civic si with B18a obd-1 swap.

3. I failed the first time due to my fan not turning on. It was over heating so he had to stop the test. He was cool with me, and gave me no static, my older brother went as well and was cool with him too. I later found out he is kind of a dick to people that come to him with ref tickets.

1. Pierce college, CA
2. 1990 crx with b16a obd1 swap
3. I converted my crx to RHD first and foremost. I did not touch the vin numbers at all, after all i have been driving it that way for about a year no probs. Well i was disappointed with their knowledge the ref was on the phone (asking questions) almost the entire time i guess he was trying to figure out what to do.the engine has no mods exept for the fact that i just rebuilt the engine but with all stock parts. the car passes smog like a champ cause i already ran it in a regular station, i want to run legit so i want the certification. of all things they could come up with, he said my car looked like an original rhd crx cause he could not find any evidence that i did the rhd conversion, but of course this is the point to make it look original. The girl working there kept taking pictures of my car..?? they finally told me that i have to take it in for a VIN check at the CHP. i am not worried but it will take a bit extra time got appointment for this weds and i also set another for the ref the same day. there was another guy (hispanic)there that got their towards the end, (i'll get names next time). he was pretty kool more than i can say for the others.
i dont think i will have much problems when the test is actually done since i got everything down to the American P30 ECU
here are some pics of my swap. tell me what you guys think.

Bakersfield College, Kern County socal

car is a 95 civic hatch DX motor is a b16a2. converted back to obd1. had AEM CAI, blox manifold. unhooked knock and unhooked CPS. p28 ecu with s300 disabled knock so no CEL.

guy didnt know very much about hondas. passed visual but not emissions because CAI numbers were for a gsr not a del sol, and cat was bad, had a modified o2. I need to fix those 3 things and go back to finish.

guy was a complete dick and locked me in a little room so I couldnt watch him work on the car. hates ricers but other than that his limited knowledge of hondaas could be a good or a bad thing. he passed a p28 for a b16 swap because the ecu code came up for a 1.6L VTEC :-/

update-went back with new cat and all things mentioned fixed and passed. he was in a much better mood this time

HOW TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT...
good FYI FOR WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS EFFECTS THE INSPECTORS AT THE REFEREE STATIONS AS MUCH AS ANY OTHER SMOG CHECK LOCATION!
YOU MUST READ....
http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/80_BARRe...forcement.html
THEN FILL OUT...
https://app.dca.ca.gov/bar/complaints.asp

I RECOMMEND ONLY MAKING LEGITAMENT COMPLAINTS

o.k. got BAR sticker. I got good info you might need to know.
it turns out that i was wrong about their knowledge what happens is that for the meantime the B.A.R. has momentarily suspended jdm engine registration, they are now suposed to call their supervisors and get the o.k. to bar the engine. if you do not get the o.k. you are s.o.l. it turns out that that's why they jump on the phone not because they do not know what they are doing.
i went to get my RHD verified at the CHP and then went to the Ref. since i had gone through all the problems they hooked it up and bared it.

2. 99 Civic LX with 00 b16a2, 00 Si ECU, AEM intake, DC header, stock exhaust.
3. They were pretty nice, not strict at all. They did the visual and after about 40 minutes I got my label. They are not doing the smog check anymore.

1. Las Positas Community College, Livermore CA
2. 1995 Honda Civic LX. Swapped in a 1995 GSR engine with Type R Pistons and a 1994 GSR Head.
3. Got there early so they tested me right away. Dude was really chill, asked what year the engine was and what car it came out of, also asked if I had engine transmission and ecu but didn't ask for any paperwork except my registration. They tested it fairly quickly, and he said nothing about the 94 head.

I passed nearly everything. Only reason I failed was because my timing's off. Going back on Monday. They were pretty chill, the lead dude was an older asian guy named Henry and he didn't mess with me at all. I give em a thumbs up if they pass me next time.

1. College of Alameda, Alameda CA
2. 1995 Honda Civic LX. Swapped in a 1995 GSR engine with Type R Pistons, AEM carb legal short ram a 1994 GSR Head
3. Went here instead because Las Positas times conflicted with my school schedule. Henry works here too, turns out hes at las positas mon & weds, and he works at alameda tues, thurs, fri. Still a cool dude, he remembered me and I passed this time. Definitely recommend either of these ref stations.

1. 24th ave & Florin rd, Sacramento CA

2. 2000 civic cx hatch, 2000 B18C1
stock motor, using OBD2A P72 with OBD2B-OBD2A jumper harness, stock GSR cat with stock civic exhaust.

3. friendly guys there, in and out within 45mins. reff was very knowlegible. he mentioned that i was missing the power steering sensor because i have power steering rack, and told me to go get one. he said he didnt care, but its his job to mention to me. he noted that im using a OBD2A ECU and jumper harness, and its okay. the reff also mentioned that i have the cleanest swap he'd seen so far and that if he didnt know anything about cars, he would of thought it was never swapped.

they didnt smog my car, i paid like 8 bucks for my sticker fees. i passed with flying colors on the first try. he slapped on my bar sticker and i drove off with a big *** smile in 2009.

did they move the carpet and check out your ecu or they just hook up some wire to their computer and check if it is obd1 or obd2?

Car: 1992 Honda Civic CX, 1995 1.8 b18c1 USDM Spec, Stock internals, DC Headers, New Magnaflow Cat, New O2, RS*R Exmag, Custom harness by me.

Failed the first time because my gas tank had a hole in it, timing was off, and the cooling fan wouldn't kick on (bad switch).

Tested it at two smog stations prior to.

Failed the second time, bad cat.

Replaced cat and passed the third time. Drove home with the biggest smile and a cool story.

Any questions, feel free to pm me.

They didn't lift my carpet up, but then again, I had the ecu out for them to see it, wired in. As long as the wiring is done correctly and you don't have any CEL's or visible mods, like the hondata or anything crazy, your golden. Just make it clean as posible.

bumping a good ol thread here. I do have a question before I get bar'd. I got a CARB Magnaflow direct fit cat for a b18c5, came with 2 o2 sensor bungs. I have to plug the upstream one on the cat because there is already an upstream bung on my header. Will I get crap for plugging a bung I DON'T need? Not sure if they inspect under the car with a magnifying glass.

1)Rio Honda College..in Whittier,Ca

2)1998 Honda Civic dx hb/ swapped in a B18C5 R*DOT factory Short block/97 ITR head
P73-A03 ECU, Factory ITR Header/Factory Cat/ Used Civic EVAP/Charcoal Canister, stock
ITR Intake arm/box . I actually mounted the Purge Solenoid on the firewall to make it
match the ITR oem Setup. Also had a CTR N1 pulley installed. Timing was set at 14 degrees

3)Inspection took a little bit over 1 hour/ they inspected the block and all Vacumn lines,
They inspected under the car 4 to 5 times, looking over the wire harness and O2 sensors.
They were super chill, and said " I was no fun" as they said it was the one of the cleanest
swaps they've seen in a while. Paid $8.75..for smog and Sticker.
